I don't blame the security guards for not breaking up the fight. I've worked as a security guard in the past, and I wouldn't have stepped in either. Security pay is very low, and not worth involving yourself in any type of confrontation, especially when you don't know the people involved or the situation. Additionally, stepping in and breaking up a fight leaves you open to all types of civil suits.

Don't blame the guards. Blame society for allowing those who do good deeds to be punished with litigation.

I understand that the pay is low and the guards are not even expected to intervene in any sort of situation like this. However, i dont see how any suit could be filed against a guard for stopping this attack.

It isnt about the low pay, or the fact that it isnt in their job description. it is about how three grown men let a 15 year old girl stomp another 15 year old girls head into the ground repeatedly.

All it would have taken is for one of them to step over her body on the ground and extend their arms, not letting the attacker get close enough to stomp her face again.

Any capable citizen that happened to be their should have stepped in. That is what is wrong with society. Take control of your neighborhood back. Dont sit back and watch this kind of # happen and wait for the police. Work with the police and your neighbors to make your neighborhood a better place.

I have much more to say, but if you will excuse me i am running late for my policing course.

Give me a break. The girl goes over to the guards and tells them that the kids are about to jump her. She stands there. The girl jumps her and they go into the street fighting. The girl who was jumped fights back and pushes the low-life who attacked her into the wall and then goes back to the guards. She then gets attacked and falls to the ground where she is repeatedly kicked in the head.

That was wild animal behavior and regardless of who slept with who or who wanted to sleep with who and did not get to sleep with him or her is immaterial. The girl has come out and told the press that they were giving her a bunch of trash because she was shopping for clothes they considered "white" in a "white" store.

Now you might find that to be normal behavior. Good for you.

UPDATE

Video Interview

Tunnel Beating Victim Says Cops Wouldn't Help

And the girl, who appeared with her mother and an attorney at a news conference Friday, said she tried to convince two uniformed Seattle police officers to help her before the attack, but they just told her to "clear the area." She said the same officers showed little interest in investigating or helping her after the attack, either, and the tunnel guards didn't even call anyone on their walkie-talkies. "I'm angry at what they did to me - and the police could have prevented it, the security guards could have prevented it, it could have been a situation that didn't have to happen," Aiesha said.
An attorney for the victim's family, James Bible, claimed at the news conference that police and the security guards would have reacted differently if the victim had not been black. "If this young lady had had blond hair and blue eyes and told police, 'These black kids are following me,' the response would have been different," he added. "What would have happened if there wasn't a video? Would we be here now?" he said. "Young African-American children need to be able to reach out to law enforcement. "This would not have occurred if officers had taken the time to investigate an incident when she said, 'These people are threatening to harm me - the response can't be to 'just leave and get out of our faces.'"
"I went to the security and told them that these kids were trying to jump me," Baker said. "I know that I am about to get jumped and I am hanging around the guards to try and get protection. ... I thought the security guards would defend me."

Poor girl knew she was going to get jumped and no one would help her.

If finding this level of violence disgusting makes me an idiot, so be it.

I guess that I need to spend more time watching TV and perhaps listening gangsta rap to be cool so that I can find something like this normal and just a reasonable part of modern existance.

I think your posts on this thread are beautiful. It brings to the fore and gives folks an opportunity to exchange with someone who just finds this kind of activity acceptable and from your tone, almost cool. That is exactly the kind of attitude that creates an environment where kids think they need to beat on other people to gain credibility or respect with the people they call friends.

Stand tall and be proud, my friend!

Preface
: rcwj1975, the security guy with 15yrs experience and Borachon, I agree with you on a points I've seen you guys make regarding policies security officers have to abide by and the police officers too.

I've worked in this same industry for 9yrs roughly now, and the general rule that appears with every company I've been with states, among others, "To Observe and Report", as its the general premise, as security officers for the most part, are not compelled, like police officers and other similar civil servants, to intervene. Nor do they have backing of the state...just the backing of the corporation they are employed by, which is a liability most companies don't want to deal with, as excessive force or misuse can be claimed, and lawsuits can fly.

God, I wish I was able to post a rulebook from one of the companies I've worked for, as most say , while the general description IS "to Observe and Report" , but if warranted, like with this assault as example, they can also intervene in the case of another person falling in harms way. No they didn't have to run in drop kicking the assailants, but shielding the girl is the minimal effort that could be done. And self defense would fall into play IF the assailants turned on the officers, allowing for the officers to then defend themselves as necessary.

I've been in similar issues like the one shown, on many occassions. Last year, a loft owner that lived in a high rise I was appointed to, had a big party and towards the end of the party, he asked the final 2 partiers to leave, as it was late...that started a fight that went from the unit, down 16 stories(elevator) into the lobby where I was finishing a report.

I also was training a new officer and we heard the scuffle echoing down the elevator shaft, from 9 floors up. So once the doors opened up I see the owner being literally punched/kicked by both guests, the owner stuck into a corner unable to defend himself, and at that point we had to intervene....as protecting client and property is another rule.

Telling the trainee to call 911, I entered the elevator, separating both assailants from the owner, and with force appropriate to diffuse the fight and protect the client(the loft property and subsequent owners) the fight ended quickly with no injury incurred to my person, the assailants on my end, and the owner, though beaten by them, was relatively uninjured.
When I entered the elevator, I simply stood between both guests and the client, when they touched me, as they were still trying to assault the owner, I pinned both guests to opposite elevator walls, ordering them to "STOP." No punches, no kicks, just justifiable force and a firm tone on my behalf.

Stopping the fight, police arrived and though the victim didn't want to file charges against the guests/friends we were thanked for doing what we did.

Anyone working on State property AKA a subway. Is given the same amount of rights as any other employee of the state, it's the law. So these guys actually had the backing of the state. Also they probably have better pay as well since you have to earn state wage if your on a state job.

Great find!

Karma's a bitch ain't it?

I retract previous statement to the fact that this girl probably deserved this. Maybe a little bit more after the 50 year old woman she robbed a few months earlier told her case.
