Reuters: US military releases Iraqi photographer

Reuters says US military in Iraq releases Reuters photographer after 17 months detention. The Iraqi Central Criminal Court ruled in December 2008 there was insufficient evidence to hold Jassam. However, the U.S. military refused to release him, saying it was not bound by the ruling because intelligence reports indicated Jassam was a security threat. Reuters has said it inquired about the evidence against Jassam, but was told it was classified.

Seventeen months without any reason in Iraqi prison! - Free speech, democracy in action... I am very sorry about this lonely story, witch kind is our times full of... - Sorry about he losing his life, probably his health, and those sleepless nights from his family.
