If somehow I
could qualify
The very nature of God

Is he friend or foe?
Harbringer of woe?
Simply normal, or just plain odd?

Could god be Me
Or you, or we?
Some consciousness of thought

If that is so
Then to whom do I owe
The answer for pain I've wrought?

Perhaps God is dead
An illusion instead
A neuro-cocktail for the brain

Mayhap a myth
A harmonic fifth
A delusion that helps the insane?

But if God is not here
Then my existence, I fear
Is no more than a fleeting chance

A happenstance ride
A moment to glide
A whirl in a cosmic dance.

Out of all the living creatures on earth, only man has adopted
religion. Why is that ? Is it because man has achieved a higher
level of development and intelligence ? Most certainly. And along
with this higher intelligence comes a clearer understanding that
man does not have all of the answers . . . that the understanding
is incomplete.
But man needs an explanation for a situation. He needs answers
for questions. Man creates God . . . to provide.

From within, God cometh.

But maybe, just maybe, . . . that's the way it's supposed to be.

Sometimes the simplest explanations ring true.

When your chest is free of your limiting ego,

Then you will see the ageless Beloved.

You can not see yourself without a mirror;

Look at the Beloved, He is the brightest mirror.

This might be debatable friend. Pretty sure my cat thinks she's God....

But I get your point. and I love how you phrased it "but maybe, just maybe....that's the way its' supposed to be." Beautiful.

Why does man limit thinking by attaching gender to God? Would an all-powerful God be insulted to be thus categorized?

I think, for many folks, its simply more convenient.

I for one would like a new, genderless pronoun. Don't know who to ask, though....
