Do we need further proof of the decline of our common sense? This is a dangerous precedent that is being set here. Not only that, but the economy is struggling and here we are saying that your gender identity disorder is now going to be paid for. Unreal!

Get our your receipts and call your accountants! The U.S. Tax Court has ruled on the Rhiannon O'Donnabhain case and decided that treatment for "gender identity disorder" constitutes bonafide medical care (rather than something cosmetic) under the Internal Revenue Code, and as a result it's totally deductible. That means the surgery can be written off and so can the hormone therapy! But not the gowns and heels!

This will lead to cosmetic surgery being tax deductible as well. No doubt. Edited to add that I saw this on the news first. It can be found on any MSM.

What a joke, it was born one sex but decided to change its sex because it was confused.... Gotta love the smell OF PC B'S in the morning... Good BY America, it was a fun ride.

well i disagree with you guys. I believe that if somethings lowering the quality of life (Someone having an incredibly bad time believing that theyre born in the wrong sex) Then they have a right to a state funded surgery

Why should it be tax deductible? Because somebody believes that they should be entitled to change their sex and have a tax while their at it? Ridiculous!

It should be tax deductible because every other medical procedure involving illness or disability is tax deductible. You wouldn't say that about someone who had surgery to get a tumor removed, or who had to go into the hospital for heart surgery.

Gender Identity Disorder is a real, psychological (and, in some cases, physical) disorder, and thus requires a real medical solution.

I work in a clinic that has about 1/2 dozen transgender patients in its patient base. I don't think anyone realizes what these people have to go through, it’s not like they wake up one day and think "hmmm I want a sex change". Not only have they felt this way their whole lives, they have to deal with the stigma, humiliation and stress of going through the process. Sexual dysphoria is a well documented medical condition. It takes YEARS and YEARS for them to go through this process not to mention many thousands of dollars, usually their own.

Lasik is tax deductible, contact lenses are tax deductible, braces are tax deductible, cosmetic surgery is tax deductible. Why is it because this issue relates to sex and gender that its a "dangerous precident".

Ignorance is a terrible thing.

Your full of crap, you want to get a sex change save of up your money and pay for it. Or move to England I heard the NHS will do it for you...

Ok if you didn't come here to deny ignorance then put your head in the sand and keep on ignoring the facts, the facts are that its a real life disorder just like any other disorder, all this has to do with are peoples predjudices. The law is on the transgendered side anyways.

I think it should be stated, in addition to S-Dogs post, that the genetic contribution of male and female to offspring is not a static transfence of physical/personality traits. It is as yet unpredictable (and not completely measurable) how much of each genders contribution to the offspring will manifest as physical/psychological (inclined) attributes.

Just because physical charachteristics present in a 'classical' identification of either a male or female gender does not necessitate how the Endocrine System will affect the individual.

Let's debate some asinine court ruling about what medical procedures should or should not be tax deductible.

In the mean time, the unbelievable fact that we are required to pay for medical treatment at all flies under the radar.

Alright, this is to anyone who feels this is a good idea. It's just something running through my head and I had to share.

God creates man and women, blesses them and tells them to be fruitful and multiply.

Man changes man into women and women into man and they are anything but fruitful.

Or that makes them incredibly fruity!

Ah, so you are basically saying that your god says that it is wrong and your god is bigger than our god. If your god really wanted us all to be fruitful and multiply, why are there hermaphrodites born with both genders, why are people born sterile? Reproduction is not a requirement to be considered a human and isn't the sole purpose of humanity. Sexual Identity Disorder is a real disease, if you don't like it, please bring science that proves that wrong. The book you are quoting is 2000+ years old, surely there are better/more current/scientific sources you can quote?
