President Barack Obama's top counterterrorism adviser on Sunday lashed out at U.S. lawmakers, accusing them of using national security issues
as a "political football" for their own gains.
Republicans have accused the Obama administration of making mistakes in the handling of the arrest of Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, who is
accused of trying to blow up a Detroit-bound plan on Christmas Day.
"Quite frankly I'm tiring of politicians using national security issues such as terrorism as political football. They're going out there, they're
unknowing of the facts, and they're making charges and allegations that are not anchored in reality," John Brennan told NBC's "Meet the
Press."

Sounds about right to me. The flight came in from overseas, and the TSA is in shambles right now: (See
Air marshals say service roiled with cronyism, chaos for more information.) Seriously,
if a Nigerian Banker told you that he was a Nigerian Banker would you listen to anything he had to say afterward?
But just because they sent this guy over to the civilian courts instead of sending him to Gitmo and using "enhanced interrogation techniques" on him
until he told his torturers anything they wanted to hear, doesn't mean he hasn't given the FBI any information. As the article states, Congress has
a problem with just blabbing to the media, and perhaps they did get information off of him and perhaps they don't want that intelligence leaked to Al
Qaeda just yet. So they aren't keeping the legislative branch in the loop so they can act on information the Underwear Bomber might have given them.
