I'm not sure where I said the military is the only place psychotic people exist. What I do recall saying is that those are the type of people the military recruits.

Unless you can disprove that (you can't), I will just leave my reply at that.

It seems you like putting words in my mouth. That's two posts now where you somehow have pulled something from my post that was not in my post.

Nowhere did I say the military is made up of entirely psychopaths. If you read my two previous posts more carefully, or at least asked better questions rather than making assumptions, you would know what I am really saying.

The military actively recruits this type of person. Does that mean all the world's psychopaths join the military? No. Does that mean psychopaths are the only thing the military gets? No. Does that mean the entire military is made up of psychopaths? Considering the previous answer, no.

What it DOES mean is... the military actively recruits this type of person.

That's all there is to it. It's as simple as that. You're looking for something in my post that is not there. You're looking for an excuse to get offended because you are ex-military. I'm sorry to say it, but it's just not there.

No matter what country you are in, a man who would torture his own daughter is a man that can be ordered to do anything to an enemy combatant. That type of person is a good person to have when your methods of "winning" are the methods this man used on his own daughter.

You can argue that all you want and list all the excuses in the world for why this guy is a piece of # but there is no justifying what he did and there is no disputing that this sort of behavior falls right in line with the military's recruitment strategy.

You don't know the circumstances. What if he threatened the girlfriend if she didn't do as he wished? Don't assume things, my friend.

And for an unrelated point. Why is it that every time a US soldier does something wrong all the anti-war ATS users spew their ignorance to the rest of the board? ((snip))

Maybe your missing the point. Rather than assuming people are all anti-war, how about considering they are "anti" what war does to *some* people?

I saw a later post of yours, you served.. I served (MOS 0847), neither of us has been in the news for being a sociopath.. does that mean everyone that comes home from war returns with all their marbles intact?.. hardly... a lot of our military "brothers" and "sisters" are killing themselves because the reality of what they've done hurts, they became addicted to drugs trying to kill the pain, live under freeways because their dog talked them into it... many of our comrades are hurting because of war, it's not new.

If this guy had joined a pot smoking peace loving anti-war movement full of skinny free love hippie slut chicks... he probably wouldn't be emulating the concept of "enhanced" behavior modification our national treasure gw bush and friends talked up as no big deal, eh?
