Mark Dice, AJ, (and many others) actually have balls, I think that's what pisses a lot of people off the most.
It's the principle of the suggestion that matters, it's about getting more people to think.

Maybe MTV will have a cool halftime show featuring the studs from Jersey Shore. Yeah baby!!!!

Peace

I like football just as much as the next guy, but there is way too much hype and commercialism surrounding the Superbowl. It is the one program that people actually watch for the commercials!

The game itself is often disappointing. The contests are lopsided. The crowds are almost silent because they are filled with people who have $2000 to spend on a football game and not real fans. The pace of the game is too slow because the coin toss, the national anthem, and halftime each have to take one hour.

You people are hilarious. I don't care what anyone of you say, the mass of ATSers can all claim that they are "above the normal sheep" but you are all sheep. Seriously.

Aren't we all in one way or another?

This makes me so sick I can barely stand it. So many people stand up for "waking the masses" and "getting the truth out" but when it comes to "taking away mah Super Bowls" you can just forget it.

We all have our vices. If you "take away mah tennis racquet, xbox, guitar, or gym membership" we're going to have a problem. Different strokes for different folks. The sedentary often like watching sports, and honestly, by doing so they are not necessarily participating in evil corporate commercialism because watching TV is free. Sure, they may view the "evil" commercial, but unless it makes them part with their hard-earned dollar it really doesn't matter.

All these masses of people will sit and waste their day away watching and planning for this spectacle when we face the worst crisis in our world in ages. When families are hunkering down to pay their bills, nothing is going to stop them from spending the few extra bucks they have to order pizza and wings and get the good old gang together.

Seriously, SBS is a cheap holiday. Pizza, wings, and a few beers at most comes out to 15 bucks per person, but it easily averages at less than 10.

All to watch a bunch of men but heads for no reason. Sure sports are entertainment, there is a novelty in them, but the lunacy over organized sports in America is borderline insane and just an example of how screwed up the priorities of Americans really are.

I completely agree with you here, but I no longer rail against the status quo. I've become an anti-commercial hermit and a complete cynic. I maintain no superficial friendships and no woman will put up with my nonsense. Everybody else can go out and participate in our goofy country's tomfoolery, but I'm content to go to work, save money, and tell kids to get off the lawn.

Let's look at the reality for a second. You have millions of people that watch the superbowl. A good chunk of them are going to be struggling, hard working Americans. They may be Americans that work farms to give us food. They may be Americans that take in children who don't have a home. They may be Americans who fight in the military to protect us. And guess what, all these people, you included can watch this big game knowing that every single one of those men on that field, even the kicker who is in the game a couple times, will get more money in a single year then you will ever see in your lifetime.

You know, I have this argument with my BFF (no homo) all the time. He loves his sports and more power to him, but I never let him get away with deifying the spoiled millionaire thugs that populate a football field. Without football, these diamond toofed assclowns would be arguing over "who da baby daddy," after drowning a few dogs and accidentally shooting themselves in the foot with an illegal firearm.

He then throws hockey in my face and all I can say is "touche'."

And for what? For tossing a ball around.

Don't get me started. However, this is how capitalism works, and THAT is why I cannot watch sports. I refuse to participate in a system in which my participation is a micro-fraction of the reason that average guys that can "throw a ball good" are vastly out-earning doctors, teachers, police officers, firefighters, scientists, etc.

If given the choice between education and preparation versus self indulgence, Americans would much rather choose self indulgence. And people wonder why this damn country is the way it is. You can make all the half arsed excuses you want but nothing is going to justify it.

Nothing.

We're ALL guilty of this, it just depends on HOW. It also depends on whether or not you're willing to admit it. I will readily blow-off responsible decisions for self-indulgence.

Oh now he has gone too far.

Now I know all the talk of how looney he is is right on the mark.

YOU DO NOT MESS WITH MY SUPERBOWL.

If the Terrorists want a war attack my Superbowl. I will join up.

Besides, what are we suppose to do on a Sunday. All Government buildings are closed, there is no mail, most people are in church most of the day, how are you suppose to get a message out on a Sunday (other than at the party after the game) he is just an Idiot!

I had to add the fact that if he wants to get his message out, he should not tell people to avoid it, he should pay the 2 1/2 million for a 30 second commercial to "educate the masses to take back our country".

Again....He is an Idiot!!!!!

I am kind of surprised that people hate sports that much.

Ever since humans banded together in villages sports have been integral to our society. It releases violent and aggressive energy in a less barbaric, and dare i say fun way.

You cannot bottle up the aggression of the human race. You have to give it a way to vent.

And sports are way better than War. Thats for sure.

So if I were to pick between which society seems way cooler to live in, I would pick the one where sports was even More Important, and war was a thing of the past.

Even today every culture on Earth plays sports. From swimming, running, to soccer rugby cricket baseball football etc etc.

It is also healthy (for those who participate). My only complaint is that we are too vicarious by watching others play the games. We should play games out on our front yard w/neighbors and family. This aspect of neighborhood life exists today in every country.

Kids especially should be physically active and play sports of whatever type they like. Simply for the health benefits and creating a full positive outlook.

My kids will get to play whatever they want, and I'll play with them.

I do agree "watching" sports is a bad habit for many people, and instead they should go outside and actually enjoy playing themselves.

Even elderly folks can ride a bike or something.

Oh and good sportsmanship builds honor and respect between tribes as well. And rivalries end in a big show, rather than nighttime bombing raids.

Attack the commercialism and vicariousness of sports culture all you want, thats fine. But please understand that sports are important to human civilization and are a excellent health care benefit for society overall. And is better than having war to vent frustration.

The problem with sports is that the symbolism behind the contest begins to warp people's perceptions of realities. People substitute a sport's teams successes and failures on the field with successes and failures in real life.

Let us take the New Orleans Saints for example. No matter what happens today during the games, the realities of a city that was devastated by a hurricane a few years ago remain unchanged. A victory might make people who live near the badly damaged parts of the city feel better for a few hours, but it will not rebuild homes and businesses. Similarly, a horrible loss on the football field is not going to set back any real rebuilding that has occurred.

Yeah the modern commercialism comes with tons of negative aspects. There is a ton of Symbolism in it too, I agree.

It's like any institution I guess, wealth and power led to corruption quickly.

One thing I find odd though is that the Superbowl gets more flak than the World Cup. But I guess that is because the marketers of the NFL put so much glossy and shine on their product.

The World Cup has some crazy commercialization around it too though

Oh I have to agree. Sports are an integral part of human history. I love sports in the regard of friendly competition and venting of anger, all the while allowing something people can come together about and enjoy as a culture.

However, sports are much more than that in today's society. I feel instead of promoting good sportsmanship and togetherness, sports today only promote separation of people. If you put an Eagles fan in the room with a Cowboys fan, you can forget civility for the day, because both people will have this diluted belief that THEY somehow represent the well being of what they call "their" team. This is only one example out of thousands.

While I don't see the Super Bowl itself as the root of the evil here, I do see the corporatism and symbolism as a big problem. And let us face the big picture here, most of the people who watch the game aren't going to be educated about propaganda and commercialism in the slightest and yes, they are going to follow the machine out and continue the same drawl of life in which corporate demands.

I also saw the comment about putting an ad on during the Super Bowl that might help to awaken the masses. Might I remind everyone that the Super Bowl will be featured on the CBS, a core component of the main stream media. No doubt, much like other stations in the past, they will stop at nothing that doesn't meet their standards from ever showing during something as big as the Super Bowl, even if an Alex Jones could must up the 2.5 million himself.

To see an ad on television during the Super Bowl used to awaken viewers, would be the equivalent of seeing penguins on a tropical island. It just isn't going to happen. No, expect more corporate drivel that will calmly lull even the most awakened individuals back into their false sense of calm. After all, "It's all good."

I can't find exitement in watching grown men in spandex chase after a ball. I don't know what's so entertaining about it. Maybe more work would get done if it was boycotted.

My most logical guess is that it has to do with their instinctive need to hunt that has been suppressed by modern civilization. what it resembles to me is two tribes fighting over prey.

Or two armies on a battlefield.

But with MASSIVE corporate sponshorship

This is nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt to bring awareness to his cause. Seriously, like anyone is going to pass up a chance to eat, drink and be merry while watching a good game.

Sorry, but tomorrow afternoon I'm going to be with family and friends cheering on the Saints. I promise you no one is going to be discussing Alex Jones or the NWO.

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF! Just because you cannot fathom life without some silly "bread and circuses" distraction doesn't mean that everyone else is so inculcated with mindless crap. I personally salute Jones' call (actually it was Mark Dice) to boycott this insanity as I recognize that football is only one of many symptoms of America's profound ignorance and apathy.

Perhaps it is a result of drinking private well water most of my life or perhaps it is simply that i have always found better things to do but I have never watched an entire football game. The last time I watched even a portion of a game I recall remarking how stupid most of the "gladiators" looked with those silly-a$$ed dreadlock "Predator-looking" wigs so that tells you how long it has been since I devoted even a minute of my time to the sheep's "favorite pass time."

People should make their own choices but personally it feels pretty good to know that I am able to extricate myself from the domestication agenda of your masters.

The wet blankets who are downplaying the SB and it's fans should just go soak their heads.

As if Americans are alone in loving their favorite sports.

Look at Europe and their love for soccer. It outpaces the SB by a long shot. People riot in the stands and trample each other to death.:shk: But hey, that's their thing...let them have their fun.

Whoa....dont let that ego tip you over.

Are you young by chance?

Do you not realize the importance of organized games in the old days when there was no 'evil' tv or toys to buy for entertainment. Do you not realized that all games have strategy, and were used long ago as events to bring the public together is a social way as well as entertainment. You are no better then anyone for the fact you dont watch sports. If you think you are....you need to get checked out by a psych doctor.

Humans friendly competitions go way back for our history. It was in every single culture (I guess they were just stupid or something)....to create a game, that had a structure, that allowed them to escape from their woes, allowed them to gather together for entertainment, and on top of all of that....those that do play the game, must be focused, they must be prepared, they must be serious.....its not a joke for them.

This isnt about distraction by the NWO....its about something humans have always done.....playing games. It is deeply rooted and has been vital for mankind to organize, plan, and do.

Im sure you have your 'time fillers' that many others would call stupid and say its a waste of time. And if sh#t ever hits the fan....you might be wishing you had a couple of those 'sports men' to be on your side, not many men can withstand the hardships that will be required for surviving in such times.

Very shallow....sports are a part of mankinds history....are you against mankinds past as well? This would only make sense from your view point.

And its not just America...its always been in all lands...sports and game has been rooted throughout all histories, like it or not.
