This is so horrible and sick. Sadly, this psycho tradition has also been ''exported'' abroad, to countries where many Muslims live. Here in the Netherlands we have special safe houses for these girls threatened to be killed by their family, in order to restore the honor of the family, and these places are full of terrified people.
Although I know many Muslims are ordinary people like you and me, there is a group way too large engaged in things which are morally not accepted in the West and hence responsible for the bad image that Muslims have. The solution comes from within. The Muslim communities need to act to stop these kind of things from happening.
I should add that I have no intentions to make a blame-the-Muslim thread. However, the fact that honor killings primarily happen among Muslim communities cannot be denied and are inter-related.
