My question is to all who reveiw this thead is simple where will YOU go when the end comes?. Ive often come up with escape scenarios however when asked this very question recently my responses sounded more like a scripted hollywood fairy tale or just plain tuff guy nonsense of well i shoot my way out.
Ive started this thread to see if i can learn and pass on any realistic survival tips if the world continues on its path of self destruction? I live in New York right by the city however im also basically trapped on long island i would have to cross bridges and lots of distance to even begin get close to the country ive thought well maybe by boat but i dunno i dont own one and im sure there will be millions with same escape plan b. Any thoughts on how i could get out ?
NYC and Long Island traffic looks like dooomsday on a regular friday afternoon if we all took to the streets it would be a complete cluster f..k...

I'll stay right here. Plenty of open land, forests, mountains, water, food, and very few people. Those who are hear would be of two types: yuppies running to the citys for "salvations' and old farmers who would jsut stay put.

I'm just going to stay put in a non-nuclear event.

My chances are better here unless there are nuclear strikes. I don't know my chances of surviving if a nuke hits Vancouver as I live some distance from the city- probably low, but it doesn't matter to me, my life is in the hands of my maker- and besides if there are strikes on other cities, I'll leave for more rural areas if there is enough forewarning.

I probably will not go to a government or military camp, too risky.

IMO you should store up enough food, water, and secure a weapon and stay put unless you know nuclear weapons are being used. Streets will be ruled by mob rule, or a few people with guns. Streets will be dangerous to traverse, especially if you are carrying around food.

Try and sit it out, if you don't have enough forewarning then it's just better to sit it out becuase people may be flipping out on the streets. It will probably be many times worse than Port au Prince after the Earthquake in areas of wealth or density.

hello, stock up on seeds and growbags, plus enough tinned/dried food untill the growbags start to produce, and charcoal for cooking, does not produce much smoke...... plus barricade materials, weapons, water storage, think!!!

I'm either staying put, or in case of forced evacuation I'm going out to sea. A lot of people don't have that option, but anybody living near the coasts should at least consider it. I told my father who lives in southern florida, if the SHTF dont go North, head down to Costa Rica.

i will probably go to the city nearest of me (its only 5 kilometres) and stay there , i dont trust the hills where i live now xD

i am in central california, and i have most of what i need for me, my wife and 2 children to last 2 weeks, plus convenient shelter. i teach survival classes and ninjutsu for self defence. if you are interested just u2u me but please allow up to 48 hours(sometimes) for a reply. now is the time to form your group, because if something does happen you won't be able to trust anyone.

I live out in the country...way out. That's where we would stay also, as all of our resources are there, I'm familiar with the country-area-neighbors.

My question to you is why do you live in the city? We recently traveled to Vermont to visit some of my wife's family, I have never been that far north before. On the way, we were going up Hwy 81 and saw a sign...NY City-60 miles. Wow, we were that close, yet traveling through some of the prettiest mountains and rolling, rugged terrain...remote too. Why not live there and commute? We saw commuter trains.
My wife drives 61 miles one way, and I used too also. Why not you? Why not make the switch if it is that much on your mind. Same for Philadelphia...68 miles...and you could live in mountains that are as pretty as any in NC.

So again, I ask why?..if so close to metropolitan areas and yet could live in the mountains...why not live there and drive in. I know people around where I live will drive 2 hrs to Richmond or Greensboro, but live by the lake in the country.

Why is everyone talking about escaping?It seems to me if you are "escaping"then you ALREADY live in a prison of your own design.

There would be no scheduled SHTF.It may happen tomorrow that would be a good scenario for the evil PTB.

East coast is snowed in the west coast is underwater, any military that could respond are in Haiti watching people die in a corrupt society.

Boy, there are some cynical folks around here...is y'alls live's so bad that you throw this philosophical crap around about it already being overwith...we just don't know it? Man, I love my life and lifestyle and aim to keep it as long as I can,... even if the whole world falls apart or not.
I'm 47 and I've had some terrible downs and some great ups... so get over whatever funk your in and get in the game of life...it's great and worth living.

Don't you ever miss having food or some sort of shelter like a hut of some sort?
