This guy doesn't make any sense.

#1) We are in Iraq for oil.. ok fine and dandy.

but your telling me Iraq has enough oil to supply us for 11 days...? Lol wth....

Why would we waste so much fuel in Iraq for 11 days worth of oil... which is probably consumed by now...

And beside all that, his assertions about alternative energy solutions are all dumbfounded.

Just because everything uses petroleum does not mean that there are no alternatives. Atomic energy is a very valid alternative energy but of course there are regulations in the U.S. that prohibit it, which is probably why we are so pissed off at Iran.

Hydrogen can work its just somewhat unstable, but all technology has its shortcomings at first.

Electricity may not be a fuel but its not a combustion engine. Thats the first step. Humanity does not make leaps and bounds overnight, especially with Oil executives squashing every opportunity at progress.

The oil companies are gonna waste every bit of Oil til its all gone, and then give us "their" alternative.

This is a well made documentary and yes the guy puts up some valid questions and information. Though I don't agree with the bleak statements that he is making I do agree that everything he is saying is pretty much true. However, there is a solution to pretty much everything he states.

Food, Energy, Plastics, and everything else will still be here. It's rather sad that plastics will still be here, hopefully they will be made bio-degradable.

And yes there are alternatives to the oil used in tires. We will have tires people... Lots of tires in the future.

Great movie - many thanks for all of the links. Obviously this guy is telling the truth. Peak oil is real and is happening now. But I disagree with him on one thing - the possible end of the human race. Yes, the end of oil would be very bad. But I have no doubt in my mind that we would find a new source of energy. I'm no scientist, but I have heard about cold fusion and free energy. I'm sure those boys at CERN would find a solution. In times of desperation, we as a race come together and evolve. Darwin was so right on. Anyways, I'm sick of oil (soooo 1900's). It's 2010 and I want to start living like the frickin' Jetsons. SO you physicists get on it. I want my Air Car asap!

I would like to repeat that I believe that Micheal Ruppert has one of the worst track records when it comes to making predictions.

His overall stance though seems plausible and I agree with much of what he says... But in my world there is also such a thing as grey, not just black and white, something I'm not sure is true for his worldview.

Would him not being ex-cia make what he is saying any less true? I do not think he is a false prophet making a living on the lecture circuit. Why do people have such a hard time with someone making a living giving lectures on this sort of subject? And if you watched the film his credentials and past were clearly documented.

I think the documentary was OK and deserves credit, howver I think that "The End of Suburbia" was a much better documentary on the same subject.

And remember to duck and cover. Seriously, a knife, a first-aid kit and a backyard garden will not save you. People will be rioting, starving and stealing. That wonderful garden will be toast due to the rodents and crazies. Yes, a knife would be good, but a gun would be better. Caned foods, bottled water, a radio, a couple of good boots and batteries are your best bet.

I stand corrected, parts3 and 4 prove his validity regarding his involvement in the c.i.a thanks to the OP for posting this excellent documentary.

I personally couln't watch it all.

I think it is only good as a kind of soft introduction to conspiracy theory, a very soft one.

Lots of disinfo etc

2 main issues:

1. The whole oil thing. They don't mention/realise that free energy systems are possible but supressed by the government deliberately. Nikola Tesla etc.

2. They act as if it is all an accident and everything is going to fall apart, and no one can stop it, whereas the reality is that the governments would never let something like this happen accidently, they orchestrate it.

I've been peak oil aware since about 2006...

Collapse is a good movie but the issues are muddied by Ruppert's character, I don't think they're presented that well and actually would go as far to say as the movie is detrimental to his cause because he comes across as a bit crazy.

The End Of Suburbia - Average, though doesn't cover the issue as widely as it should be.

If you're going to watch one Peak Oil documentary, ever, make it "A Crude Awakening: Life After The Oil Crash".

Honestly, it's the definitive and most well presented documentary on the subject to date. I think it's on Google video but it's worth having a proper xvid if you can find a torrent with seeds.

Watched this movie last night, definitely something everyone should witness. I can't imagine the frustration he must feel.

Hold on. I'm watching this right now and the guy just said that the Federal Reserve would go bankrupt, and then he said yep the Federal Reserve can go bankrupt.

The guy is obviously a smart guy, but come on.....
