Im just wondering what this man is saying is pretty pertinent, but has anybody seen his credentials *proving* that he is ex-cia?.

Or is he just another *false prohpet* (for want of a better phrase)
making a living on the lecture circuit?.

Collapse is an amazing documentary that everyone should see. A real wake up call. Anyways, I downloaded the whole thing using torrents. Just search for "Collapse torrent" on google, and a whole list pops up

I am watching the movie and I already disagree with his statement that nothing can replace oil...

that's not true, hemp can replace oil with no problem... in fact, hemp should have been used from the beginning (google: hemp car or: hemp can save the planet) if the oil lobby (and big pharma lobby) didn't made it illegal and demonized it in the first place

Personally I feel that while Mike is correct on many points, he has a bit of a narcissistic personality disorder and feels that simply because he was proven correct in predicting the 2008 collapse, he doesn't need to defend his own theories. He feels like he knows everything.. You can see his personality disorder become apparent when he's asked legit question about human ingenuity, and instead goes off on a tangent about how great his father was, and how he was trained to be a critical thinker. Bit nutty eh?

But what he doesn't truly explain is his logic behind the "bell curve". He doesn't show us any reason why the bell curve must actually be bell shaped. Obviously we are at peak oil now, but the question is, how long will this peak remain flat? It could be quite some time.. 10, 20, 30, 40 years. Who knows? Certainly not Mike, or else he would have given us some reasoning.

The only evidence for the bell curve he gives is an illustration that was drawn in the 60s... I'm not saying it won't happen, but its not going to happen the way he says it is.

I watched it today and was not impressed. Yes, he's an articulate guy and has a ton of information, most of which is practically impossible to verify. There are many ways to produce the items he discusses, such as getting the oil out of shale, yet he speaks definitively about the facts as if they were set in stone. The whole business about how they will stop making cars because there won't be anymore tires is another nutty example.

I don't disagree with many of the themes he suggests. You only need to be aware of state of world affairs to understand that some of the things he suggests might happen could happen.

The problem I have is the declarative manner in which he makes the case as if his projections are facts. You can't prove a negative

I also found it odd that for someone who really believes that you are going to need arable land and a real community to survive that he'd be living in some stucco tool shed in Culver City, which is a hell hole. If what he so fervently believes will happens happens, the absolute last place you would want to be would be LA. LA would be an absolute war zone. And that garden he apparently pees in must be big enough to have about 8 tomato plants, because that is how big the average lot is in Culver City. At one point they show him sitting on his back stoop and the yard is nothing but trash and weeds.

My impression was that he was a nutter. Smart, but a nutter all the same.

Obviously he is unaware that we have only dabbled into the sciences possible.

he also states the only thing they will state as currency is gold....

that may be true, but.

bartering is going to be much more effective.

ex.

I will give you a case of Winchester double-aught 12 gauge rounds for 5 pounds of meat.

In all honesty, what the hell can you use gold for BESIDES currency? Psh. I wouldn't want gold, I'd want weapons, ammo, food and clean water. F*ck your gold.

this has been proved recently, time and time again..there seems to ALWAYS be some sort of....'political'...reason why aid can not reach the people who need it...doesn't matter what country is involved

how long did it take to get help to Katrina victims?...and that is in this country...whoever survives the disaster injured, will most likely die within the next few days....just deny aid

look at pretty much the entire continent of Africa...entire communities are wiped out from violence..and we're stabilizing the Mid East...why?...oh yea...OIL

this is not something that will happen in the future...it has been the agenda for quite some time

Would him not being ex-cia make what he is saying any less true? I do not think he is a false prophet making a living on the lecture circuit. Why do people have such a hard time with someone making a living giving lectures on this sort of subject? And if you watched the film his credentials and past were clearly documented.

I think the documentary was OK and deserves credit, howver I think that "The End of Suburbia" was a much better documentary on the same subject.

Hi, new ATS member here.

I must say, I have to agree that this documentary provides a powerful insight into the future of mankind.

Having never heard of this guy before, on first impressions I found him to be completely believeable and sincere. You can tell by the emotions he goes through that he truly believes that we are at a crisis point in human history.

This guys sole purpose is to research what is really going on and his work is inspired. I for one found it a real wake up call in regards to the near future and realise that we must start making an effort to prepare for the disaster that could be coming.

I would recommend that everyone should watch this piece of film, many will call it scaremongering but instead of just dismissing it straight away people should go and research some of he things he is claiming before passing judgement.

It kind of worries me that hundreds of millions of people have seen Avatar yet probably not even 1 percent of them will even know about the existence of 'Collapse' let alone would have watched it.

It only further adds to my own opinions about what is really going on in the world.
