Rolling Thunder!! NASCAR 2K10

Daytona !!!!

Today will be the first day the cars will be on the track practicing for Saturday's Budweiser shootout..

Some interesting changes coming this season.. Off the top of my head, here are a couple that stood out as far as the SPRINT CUP ...

1- "bump drafting" .. will be in the drivers' hands, NASCAR will not be using the enforcement policies they had last year, which is good, since it was too much of a judgement call, and many times their actions/non-actions caused confusion..

2- "rear wing".. will be replaced by a spoiler most likely in March..

3- "race times"..

The race start times for NASCAR Sprint Cup races in 2010 in the Eastern and Central regions of the country will begin at 1:00pm/et, West Coast events will begin at 3:00pm/et, and night races will begin at 7:30pm/et. (The one exception is NASCAR’s longest night race, the Coca-Cola 600, which will have the same 5:45pm/et start time.)

Pole Qualifying for the Daytona 500 will be Saturday, and the Bud Shootout on Saturday Night.. then the following Thursday will be the 125mile qualifying races to set the field.

I am predicting that my driver will win his 5th Cup title, and win at least 4 times this year..

Did you know pit crews are mostly former college athletes? WOW!
The special really let me see into the world of the team that you never see on the track. I have the utmost respect for crew chief Chad Knauss. He is not formally educated, but when it comes to the physics of a stock car..he kicks butt!!!!

I think JJ has a special series on one of the movie channels.. HBO maybe? I think it's a three show deal leading up to the Daytona 500..

Not my cup of tea, although my driver owns half of the 48 team

Once those engines fire up later this afternoon, all will once again be right in my world!!

Only kudos I'll give your Rainbow warrior is that he has invested in building a track on MY SIDE of the border, slated to open next season. FINALLY NASCAR will cater to the fans here.

Where can i see this here in the UK, i have Sky but not sports, i thought they'd have put it on one of the channels at least.

Been waiting for the start on Fox, they said it started at 5pm UK time.

Well I have to say that this Daytona race was definitely not the best race I have seen.
But the most amazing part of the race was spending it with my Love.
Newman might have done really awful but he still beat JJ

The sad part of the race was that those asshats that are running Nascar would not even blame that crappily designed car for gouging out the asphalt.

It was being gouged out by the cars bottoming out going in to and coming out of that turn.Probably a relocated shock or bolt.

The track was not to blame.It was holding up fine for the Nationwide race and the Arca race and all the laps ran in practice and qualifying for all the races.

1000 of miles were raced on that track in the previous days no indication of track surface issues.

They use the old style. car. They are not as wide.

The track in that area was not under water,it is banked for gawd sakes water just runs off.It don't get that damn cold there.If it was the track it would have came up other places too.

Age is not an issue either.It is hardly used the rest of the year.

But it did not come up.It was being gouged out!

I would have to agree with the shock mounts initiating the tearing up of the asphalt, and then the splitters finishing the job... but hey! this is weeks later and Daytona is history.

DAYTONA - winner Jamie McMurray

CALIFORNIA - winner Jimmie Johnson

VEGAS - winner Jimmie Johnson (again)

ATLANTA - winner Kurt Busch

and a break this past weekend leading into one of the most exciting races of the year..

This Week's Track

Man, I cannot wait for the festivities at Bristol this weekend. I have always liked Bristol ever since I started watching NASCAR. It is one of about ten or twelve race weekends on the calendar that I circle. Not to mention they did add some more of the SAFER Barriers on both the frontstretch and on the backside.



Oh and as of Talladega, the wings on the back of the car are no more!!
