I remember when my old 97 Pontiac Grand Prix had problems with steering, where the steering wheel would lock up without warning and completely fail.
I vividly remembering trying to merge onto a road when my steering suddenly locked up in mid turn and I nearly hit another vehicle, I ended up
driving into a ditch in order to avoid an accident since I was unable to direct the car.
There were thousands of complaints, but it took over 5 years for them to finally issue a recall.
Ford took a bailout, they just did it a few years earlier than GM/Chrysler.
This is nothing more than the US government looking out for their investments while attempting to stimulate US companies via sensationalism.
