Environmental Marketplace for Carbon, Water and Biodiversity

Wow, a market place for not just Carbon, but Water and Biodiversity too? Really interesting videos by the partners of NASA and Cisco that show the control nexus of the 'swarming network tool' that will be the nervous system of the earth...

The first video states they are 'not for profit', monitors not market that is? Then they use the religious terminology of mantra or in vocative prayer as they iterate how good they are.

I showed the vids to my Environmental Science class who were all jazzed about it...
said it's a tool, like a shovel you can dig a garden, a latrine, or hit some one in the head with it. One of the astute said 'or dig a grave with it.'

My question is will efforts like this be successful where profit or greed or cost/benefit maximizing is placed before the health and well being of the organisms and the planet itself?
