Groom Lake Front Gate

I updated the front gate page with new photographs of the warning signs and cameras. The text on the warning signs, at least one of them, has changed. No more threat of deadly force. Rather they will bore you to death with legal mumbo jumbo.

Regarding the cameras, doing comparisons between old and new, I'm reasonably sure they are not fakes. The cameras themselves have a different housing. You can clearly see Cohu on the side. That is the military camera of choice. The cable to the camera looks thckier, almost like that flexible conduit you see in hardware stores. I also put a photo of the camera on the tower. I keep meaning to bring the telescope and shoot it from Hawkeye Hill, but I never get around to it. This shot is from Groom Lake road. There is one spot where the tall tower is visible.

Hi gariac,

Once again thanks for the excellent photos and data - always find your posts factual and interesting. Great to see the front gate in snow....

Peace!

They've had all of that technology since at least the early 90's when I first started following the Desert Rat (www.ufomind.com). He documented all of the above technology, though the motion sensors were infared and thermal scanning sensors buried in the ground in a spiraling perimeter if I recall.

Generally speaking back then, when the big lookout area was still unclaimed by the Air Force, people rarely got past the first set of sensors, primarily because motorized vehicles are very noticable out there (its quiet!), so traveling on foot was the preferred method of most 'investigators'. Even then, generally they were found by the hired security firm that handles the first checkpoint gates (EG&G I believe is the company).

Getting to anything of substance would require I believe two or three additional checkpoint sections, not getting caught just didn't happen, ever. In the mid and late 90's however, the USAF allocated a much larger radius of land around the base, including the 'lookout ridge' or whatever it was called. Now, its barely possible to get photographic shots from a distance of test craft.

So, save yourself the time, you won't make it very far and will spend at least a night in custody.

Hi!,

I totally agree with Ghostt - they have had various sensors for some time. I have provided a link to Dreamland resort that has good information;

Go to Area 51 Info & Photos
Surveillance Devices

www.dreamlandresort.com...

gariac's site also has some great photos of surveillance equipment;

Peace!

Hi Dramey,

It would be difficult to 'surround' Area 51 - as it is itself surrouded by huge tracts of land controlled either by the USAF or the Department of Energy (the Nevada Test Site). See link to map Wikipedia below;

en.wikipedia.org...:Wfm_area51_map_en.png

As for the landscape - the first photo in the OP's post shows the 14 mile road to what is know as the Front Gate - where you have to stop. It is desert. Beyond the Front Gate there is a guard shack and then the road continues for another 8 to 9 miles - through hills, mountains and desert....

This place was selcted for its isolation and for a purpose - sorry but I really don't think they are going to let you in for a tour!

Peace!

surround was a very poor choice of words for me

you are absolutely correct that would be impossible, but maybe even if a large enough number camped out there, i mean theres gotta be a few million interested ufo fanatics out there in the world that could come together for a big event on public land outside of area 51

they probably wouldnt give me or anyone random person a tour, but with enough pressure maybe it could be arranged to allow a tour for a reporter

they could easily pre plan the situation to show only the reporter what they want them to see, and even that would be a very cool thing for many ufo enthusiasts to be able to see anything inside of area 51

maybe even with enough protesting or enough people gathering outside of the area 51 property they could convince them to do something like they do at the haarp place, where they allow a tour like once a year

it just seems like its been awhile since area 51 had any publicity

seems overdue with all the alien stuff that seems to be in the news and entertainment media lately

i m ean they just had the movie planet 51 out, yet we still havent gotten Anything out of area 51 after all these years

Actually it was the Interceptors that had the thermal vision, not the base. Seismic sensors for sure. I think the base is using magnetometer sensors these days.

The perimeter of the base is not secure, but it doesn't matter. If you get close to the infrastructure, they will stop you. On foot this would be a multiple day hike, assuming you hide during the day. Assuming you can hide during the day. There are plenty of flights during the day to spot you, either from Janets, test flights, or security patrols.

I suspect closer to the base, it begins to look like Edwards south base. Lots of detection gear.

Great post, and excellent photos! But I have always wondered if they have auto firing turrets just underneath the ground in case of a full on breach? I've heard rumors that they have them underneath the White House lawn.
