The Earth has begun to reflect more radiation that it used to. This is a complete turn around from a long standing trend of absorbing more and more radiation due to the greenhouse effect.

News.Yahoo.com
Scientists studying earthshine the amount of light reflected by the Earth say the planet appeared to dim from 1984 to 2001 and then reversed its trend and brightened from 2001 to 2003.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

While the story speculates that this increase is due to the amount of cloud cover over the Earth, I think that another possible and even probable explaination is the chemtrail activity that has been seen over the past couple of years. Certainly, high altitude particulates and chemicals would contribute to a greater reflection of light from the earth back into space. Could it be that the government's plan to counteract global warming is actually working or is this just the Earth's way of balancing itself?

Chem trails? What are those? Are they some kind of marking device or what is the deal with them?

hmmm...*sarcastic* yeah, couldnt be the tons of reflective particles that our own military is dispersing into the atmosphere could it

CB Here are some links to recent board discussion on chem trails and the like. It is very interesting reading.

We are not absorbing as much radiation because there are an increasing amount of particles floating in the air due to mostly pollution. They stop light from reaching the surface.

And as it always seems to be in the big debate over "global warming", a story of contradiction out of the Pacific Northwest:

Global warming may be drawing the solar shades on some parts of the world, but the sun is shining brighter than ever in the Pacific Northwest.

Or is the sun just becoming more active?

Global warming - is the Sun to blame?

More from my personal news archive:

Here comes the Sun to further cloud global warming theory.PDF

Sunspot cycles, anyone?

Let's not forget recent extreme solar activity that broke old records:

What is happening to the Sun?

We must keep in mind that the sun's output is not a constant. So how can "Earthshine" measurements be a dependable data source? Also keep in mind that nearly all of the past solar irradiance data was measured at the Earth's surface or in the atmosphere. One can hardly expect clean data through constantly changing atmospheric conditions. So how can one accurately weight the data of Earth's reflected light against the variable irradiance of the sun when we can't measure it accurately to begin with?

This will soon change with SORCE, the Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment which is a NASA sponsored project to measure the sun's full spectral output. This is the first satellite mission that directly measures the sun's full spctral emission. As the website for SORCE states, "Solar radiation is the dominant, direct energy input into the terrestrial ecosystem; and it affects all physical, chemical, and biological processes. The Sun provides a natural influence on the Earth's atmosphere and climate. In order to understand mankind's roles in climate change, the Sun's impact must first be understood."

The SORCE satellite was only launched in January of 2003 so the data is not complete enough to render any useful data trends for the moment. See lasp.colorado.edu...
