A radical atheist group tries to stop Mother Teresa from being on a stamp.

I do not know how far these people can go. I do not even know what to say.

Here is a news link and a snippet-

Atheist Group Blasts Postal Service for Mother Teresa Stamp

An atheist organization is blasting the U.S. Postal Service for its plan to honor Mother Teresa with a commemorative stamp, saying it violates postal regulations against honoring "individuals whose principal achievements are associated with religious undertakings."

Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Humanitarian, etc.

What is wrong with the radical atheists? Will this cause the government to become an evil religous theocracy?

What next?

Well let's see, so a Mother Theresa stamp is any different than anything else in the past released by the USPS?

Why is they only seem to target Christians?

Are you inferring it would be fine if another Religion would be put on a stamp?

I should maybe see if the people protesting this have a site. I will be back after some searching.

Alright, I am back from their site. I was not able to find anything regarding anything except anti-Christian rhetoric.

Here is a link to there Home page-Freedom From Religion Foundation

If anyone can find an anti religious move they made, against anything other than Christianity, let me know.

Thanks for the comment. I wonder if they protested against that stamp? I am starting to think that group is anti-Christian, not ant-religion.

Yeah, that is the idea I was leaning toward. Radicalism is not a religious malady I guess. It seems to be a human condition, not a religious one.

Thanks for the comment.

Nobody in Europe and most in the USA don't seem to understand what religious freedom is. Religious freedom means the pope cannot tell president Obama what to do and vice versa.

It has nothing to do with expression, and everything to do with authority. Religious freedom means that religious leaders may not exercise authority over politicians and policians may not exercise authority over preachers.

The US constitution makes this very crystal clear. It doesn't need to be re-interpreted for any reason. Separation of church and state has nothing to do with religious expression. While the line between church and state can never be entirely clear because its arbitrary and opinonal what "establishing a religion is", most of these cases extremist atheists bring up have nothing whatsoever to do with establishing a religion.

Its absolutely ludacris to think putting a statue of the 10 commandments out in a courtyard establishes a religion. Its insane to think printing out religious figures on stamps establishes a religion. Its even questionable whether the atheist flagship issue in the USA... teachers leading off sessions with prayer... establishes a religion, especially when "God" is part of no religion in particular unless the teacher is praying to "Jesus".

The US post office has a criminal monpoly, yet here a group of atheists are worried about the arrangement of pixels on the stamp. It bothers me to no end that while there is near universal agreement that corporate monopolies are generally a bad thing, we allow the US government to break its own anti-trust rules and then even go a step further and specifically force a corporate monopoly known as the US Postal service upon us. Disgusting... America is supposed to be a free country. Some day I want to start my own postal service just to show the arrogant fascists in power whos really boss... everyday Americans who believe in liberty.

What a silly reason to boycott the post office over. It seems today that people will find anything to be offended over and run with it no matter how absurdly trivial.
