I realize there have been several threads started lately on this, but I want to tie these two topics together. MODS, please move this to the most appropriate thread if you don't think it should 'stand alone'.

I just saw these pics from the thread about the 'jellyfish' seen in the sky (near the northern lights) in Norway recently. Here are the photos:

NOW: Here is a photo taken from STEREO yesterday, of the sun with a very similar object in the corona:

You decide if they look similar or not. I am willing to listen to ALL ideas, and there have been a lot thrown out there the past week or so. Artifact? Okay, I can go with that....but for BOTH of these images? I just don't believe in coincidences.

What do you think?

As I wrote in the other thread, the two are not even similar, they're just both green, and at a similar angle. They are not the same shape, and without context of the STEREO pic, there is no way on earth we can judge this.

So yes, the STEREO pic does seem to show some compression artefacts, and the jellyfish picture seems to show something else (which has been explained as a reflection of the aurora by an Iridium, or other, satellite, hence it being the same colour as the aurora).

I see your point, and agree with some of it, too. I think the dark area in the STEREO pic could definately be compression, but what about what looks like a zig-zag light?

I'm not saying I think either one is a UFO...that is a pretty far stretch without a lot more evidence. IMO, however, I think they are similar enough to raise an eyebrow. (mine, anyways!
)

I think that just like the depths of our oceans, there is a lot out there we don't understand. I would hate to write something off so quickly.
