Hey folks,

I just came across this and found it fascinating!I haven't read it all but I thought I would share.I hope you enjoy it.

TO THE READER This book is an outgrowth of a curious reading adventure for more than 25 years. The author has read deeply into just about all sides of a very complex story - the respectable books, texts, and journals; the works of evolutionists and creationists; the uniformitarians and the catastrophists; mythologists, historians, geologists, archaeologists, and astronomers; the hollow earth theorists, the flying saucer fans, the gods-from-outer-space writers, and the proponents of Mu and Atlantis. This reading was not done out of gullibility, but rather to see just what various views and theories rested on. To a remarkable degree, it may now be said, any of the above may use the same facts to bolster any theory. In this book, however, the facts, the clues, the anomalies, are removed from the views and theories woven about them and are here examined in a new light. We want to explore how reported facts, and anomalies as well, fit into belief systems, especially belief in a young, created earth as contrasted with a belief in evolution.

ONCE UPON A TIME Much has been written about origins. This book focuses more on the problem of time as treated by scientists and others. Generally speaking, this is a book about prehistory, those areas of the past in history where written records either do not exist or where they do not furnish as yet clear answers to crucial questions about ancient times. To this definition of prehistory we add those aspects of ancient history where Biblical accounts and other accounts (or modern assumptions) are in serious conflict.

One can't read very much about the past without running headlong into problems of time. Do we live on an ancient earth or on a young earth with an appearance of age? When one sees a fossil tooth or an insect in amber, invariably the first question is, 'How old is it?' The Christian especially, who reads widely, soon comes to agree with Shakespeare: 'The time is out of joint!' I often explain in my lectures that I believe in a young created earth, but that the Bible does not give us enough information to pin down the precise age of the world. Then the hands are raised, and the first question is: 'Yes, but what is your date for the creation of the world?'

If you don't like it don't read it.I couldn't care less, but by suggesting I have an agenda you taint it for every one else.So if your gonna comment at least read it(which is not possible in the 20 minutes since I posted it)before you judge it.

Thank you.

No, I was just asking you to be honest about what it is, which you were not. Tainting it? By telling people what it is? And yes the author has an definite agenda and you are promoting his work so the question does need to be asked as to whether you also support his agenda. FYI asking is not the same as suggesting.

No I didn't read it in the 20 minutes since you posted it. It actually existed before you posted it which means that many people, including me, have read it before you posted it. And yes, I do read creationist material quite a bit to see what they say.

Don't bother responding since I'm not coming back to this thread.

Maybe I was wrong in answering your first post, and since you really can't tell me what to do I'll answer again anyway.

Why not just be honest about it and admit that this is another attempt to support the religious doctrine of Creationism?

You suggest I am being dishonest and trying to"support the religious doctrine of creationism"when all I did was stumble on to a site I felt was compelling and wanted to share,I never even said I believed it.

By the way when the guys with the nets come it's easier to just go with them.

Edit for question;
Do you know what forum you are in?

I'll take your word for it that you didn't start this thread to promote the creationist agenda. Well then, in all honesty, what do you believe? Are you a creationist? Do you believe Earth is only a few thousand years and was created by God in six days?

Put your cards on the table, please.

Here are mine: I am an atheist, a scientific materialist and a Darwinian evolutionist. I could debunk the material in the link you posted with my eyes shut. However, I've done that many times too often in the past to have any interest in doing it again. I am more interested in finding out what you believe, and why you believe it. Let's discuss that.

Eight days and no reply. I think we can safely dismiss the OP as a trolling creationist who fled with his tail between his legs when his bluff was called.

As always, great work

I don't know if it's depressing or fantastic that these guys have to pretend to be what they aren't in order to try to get others to believe their tripe. I guess it's fantastic for society that so many people can spot pseudoscientific claptrap, but depressing for the believers who are finding their tiny island of ignorance being eroded by the sea of evidence.

Either way, nicely done Astyanax
