in about a year or two im going for a vacation to alaska to go hunting and fishing, while im in alaska i want to go to adak island in the alutians to have a look around my question is has anybody here ever been stationed on the island
at the naval air base that was operational up until it was closure in March 1997
after which time the island was handed over to the nat parks and its become
a tourist destination.

now has anyone here gone there for a look, post march
1997 ofcorse ,problem for me is what carrier flys out there weekly and who controls the hotel, what is there to do or is it really boring, im more interested in the ww2 base or what remains of it.... thanks

Here's some info that might help. Alaska Airlines flys there, weather permitting. And the island is basically owned by an Alaskan corporation, with parts still administered by the Parks Service and the Navy.
