Airline passengers have 'no right' to refuse naked body scanners

www.guardian.co.uk

Airline passengers will have no right to refuse to go through a full-body search scanner when the devices are introduced at Heathrow airport next week, ministers have confirmed.

The option of having a full-body pat-down search instead, offered to passengers at US airports, will not be available despite warnings from the government's Equality and Human Rights Commission that the scanners, which reveal naked bodies, breach privacy rules under the Human Rights Act.

WHAAAT? passengers have no rights to refuse body scanners?

I never jumped into the body scanner fray, but this article that was posted today states that passengers have no rights when it comes to body scanners.

What has this world come to? was this really caused by the underwear bomber?

do you think giving up your rights for safety is the way to go?

*MODS*IF this was posted before... please delete/move.

It's really quite disgusting, isn't it? Man, there are machines that can detect remnants of drugs on a person's clothing. There are, I thought, machines which can detect remnants of explosives on a person. If not, then what the hell was that glassed container I had to stand in while bursts of air were blown all over my body before I passed through security at JFK Airport two years ago?

Of course, there's always the reasoning that if you don't want to be scanned and seen nekid, then just don't ride on a plane.
But that argument can lead to what? Gotta be scanned to ride a bus, a train, a taxi, or even to pass through a police check point while driving in your car from your house to wherever? Oh, well. Just walk. But, then, when will the screening have to be done just to enter a grocery store?

How long before these machines are placed at other venues such as courthouses, stadiums, government buildings, etc..?

Not long IMO.

One thing you need to realize is that the rich is in control of the US, and all these measures are being taken to protect the rich, you think the rich catch a taxi? They got private planes and stuff, they are famous, they can pay money to avoid all these embarrassment, heck 2pac was released on bail for rape, remember the million dollar bailout.

It's just the way it is now a days, even the US government is controlled by the rich, heck why do you suppose they made the law which allows companies to donate as much as they want to politicians, that is basically bribery at its best.

So much for the 4th Amendment.

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

These progressive tyrants need to be dealt with!

Edit to add that the article concerns the UK but if trends continue this will be in the U.S. soon enough and will be in violation of our 4th Amendment.

OK theres obviously some research to be done, but there used to supposedly be a group of constitutionalists that focused specifically on their right to travel. That is in the US, you have the right to travel within reasonable accomodations as in: to have or possess a vehicle and drive it on the street; or bicycle or skateboard etc;

So this group of people DID NOT acquire drivers licenses but instead did recognize their constitutional rights and fought the feds and won!!!!!

I say f# the feds! Fight them!

I believe I am going to open an airport and airline.

The rules-

Smoking allowed
First two drinks free
There will be no first class they can fly on their own frelling planes
Security measure are old school-metal detectors random checks and all people that are of descent of a terrorist activity in the past 20 years, gets profiled, air marshal/copilot on all planes
Anyone whining can kiss my ***

What do you think?

Think it will work?

All of this crap going on. I believe this might be the way to stop all of it. Think about it. The frelling loons are running the asylum. Most people cannot believe the crap they are coming up with.

Imagine it, we just start our own companies and tell the governments to take a jump off a tall cliff.

My city passed that crap smoking ban when I moved back. I might open a restaraunt/bar that allows smoking. It will be just a private club instead of a public place. I might have to check into this idea.

It has potential, make it a anti-establishment club

No more flying home back to the UK for me then it seems.

I dont know about everyone one else, but I for one draw the line in the sand here when it comes to these body scanners.

There is no way by my free will that I will go through one of these scanners and U suggest that everyone else does the same.

Say NO, that is the only why to beat these people.

How far will you be pushed until you say no?

it's that simple.

What a turnabout! Initially, these same 'spokespeople' told us that anyone uncomfortable with these scanners could opt for a regular human pat down search.

I googled for that article about having the option but there's just too much noise about this issue to find what I'm looking for.

What's next? Body cavity searches? "Thank you for flying Delta, now please bend over and say ahhhhh...."

airport security is useless. most dont know their ass from a hole in the ground. If somebody really wants to sneak in Homeland Security will escort them through the side of the airport.

This country is now such a pathetic joke.

Oh yeah, it's all over the web now:

motherjones.com...

economycollapse.blogspot.com... promoting-airport.html

Another one of the dual-citizenship (US/Israel) warmongers.

Can anyone find out how much stock he owns in these companies?
