After listening to last nights show ( on NDE ) I am compelled to write this post / rant .
As a person I am sure without a doubt that George is a "good guy" who means well.
But having said that he can not conduct an interesting interview unless its of a health / medical nature . Other then that one topic , George is lost when it comes to asking a question or following along to what is being said through out the interview and often asks a question that has all ready been asked or he will completely miss the point and say something really dumb with no relevance .

I know one of the many reasons as to his lack of ability to conduct an interesting interview is do to his lack of paying attention to the actual interview for the sake of ready fast blasts to form his next question .

All of the other Coast hosts have a deep interest in the topics they cover and will often refer to various books that they have read and will make use of there own personal independent research to form interesting and intelligence questions , not George .

Art has often said on air that his job , when he was at the helm , was a full time job requiring a lot of time through out the day spent researching . This time he spent privately researching payed off BIG TIME when he was on the air . One other ability that all of the other Coast hosts share is an ability to talk to there guest as if they were a friend , someone they know . Once again . not George . George will often seem uncomfortable and insecure , perhaps his insecurity is the reason for the new look at the Coast website ?

I for the life of me would love for some long time Coast listener to help me understand how George was picked to be the main guy on Coast ?? Was there a time when George did research a guest ? Was there a time when he actually made the interview interesting ? Has he simply gotten a little lax or has he always been the same guy ??

Seriously though , if you are a long time listener can you please explain how George came to be chosen as the Coast front man to replace Art ??

I do believe that George does have it in him to be a good host in his own right if he would simply spend some time researching a topic and paying more attention to the actually interview rather then fast blasts .

Having said that I think it more likely that he will do a few more medical based topic's ( something that he has researched ) and will start referring to books that he has read ( yah right ) because lets face it if not George , then one of his " people " keep an eye on ATS for any Coast talk .

One other question I would like to ask is who do you think would make the best front man as the Coast host as a replacement for George ? Yes yes I know , Art . But other then Art who do you think would be the most likely pick ?

My choice would be George Knapp, but he is not interested in being a full time host on Coast, I wrote him about a year or so ago and he said at this stage in his life he would not want to do the research that is required to do the show properly, not interested in staying up half the night and the fact is he loves his job at KLAS in Vegas where he is well established, does investigating reporting and gets travel, I can understand that. I am glad to have him twice a month, would be great if he hosted every Sunday...

Ian is alright but only listen to him if I am interested in the topic and or guest, he has become to mainstream for me...would not like to see him as the weekday host.

I have never listened to Noory, I heard about an hour of his first fill in show for Art and that was enough for me, think it was 2001 sometime. Following the boards over the years since he took over it looks like nothing has changed, he didn't know what he was doing then and apparently still doesn't, guess the good part is I get more sleep.

I have listened to Art since May 30, 1994 and yes would love it if he came back full time but don't see that happening, glad to see he is doing more shows recently and am looking forward to his interview with Dr. Michio Kaku this Friday, January 29, 2009..I think Art's long time audience like myself do not listen to Noory, they have moved on...

I am sure there are many qualified out there who would do great as a host on Coast, a rock would be better from what I hear.

Yes last nights show was extra painful

If there are more shows like last night then I feel that George may receive a talking to by his boss .

As for a replacement I kinda like Richard Syrett He was a guest host on coast just over a year ago and does his own weekly 2 hour show every Sunday .

Actually I am a stream link member , a paying customer , so I do have the right to ask a question based on my unhappiness over the product that I am paying for .

Fair enough...remember that when your boss or your customer takes issue with your performance. As if no one can be afforded a bad day in this world. How shallow.

I am also a streamlink member, download all of Ian's, Knapp's and Art's shows, for those who are interested KSFO is podcasting the show free, don't know how they are able to do it, don't know of any other affiliate that does.

I alsp liked Syrett, think he would make a good host...

Look, there is a thread about this already, it as started last week. Is this your reply that wwas so good you made it a thread?

George noory is a really good guy. He helps listeners personally. He doesn't have an I don't care attitude like you. He helped a blind guy with no heat in his house get an operation and now he can see. I heard he even got the guy help so he could get heat. Think about it, you can see your whole life and then you go blind, and you have to literally burn newspapers in cinderblocks just to keep warm. The guy had to walk just to fill buckets of water so he could bathe and drink. I bet you don't see a place for his prayer friday calls either.

I think maybe you should start to smoke marijuana. Which he supports the legalization of. First, for your insomniac. Second, so you get a sense of humor. You need to lighten up. If he's got a topic I don't want to listen to I just shut it off. Honestly, I don't like some of his guests.

A few days ago he had a guest booked, and the guest had a bad phone connection, he was booked for the entire show. George told him he would have to reschedule he wouldn't conduct the interview, and hung up. He did a whole free form show with open lines, it was great. I rarely catch an entire show.

I always catch the first half hour for the latest, and if I don't like the topic or the guest I shut it off, case closed. I really can't stand when they have a great topic and the guest sucks to tell you the truth.

Anyway, I'm ok with george even if he's not ok with me. The last the show needs is someone like you. He might not have a knowledge about topics as much as you'd like him to have but, he really shines in open calls. He'll let you talk about anything. Most of the callers wouldn't get more than 1 minute on any other day, and george will talk with them for 5 minutes.

George is for the people. Just like you have your say here right now, which you expect. If you called in the show, who other than george would talk to you longer than a minute? I know he always says things like GO AHEAD.

I think your just a george basher. MAybe if you call them they'll let you have your favorite topics on everynight. It's kind of like tuesday, and you like monday,....but it is still tuesday. How's the time slot for you? You are a hater, and your thread is unrealistic. It was a bad idea to post it. This is not an example of freedom of speech. It is an example of a whinning, crying stuck up american who wants his mommy.

You need to snap back into reality and fast. Why don't you just go to bed. You make it seem like the world is going to end if coast to coast is not to your liking. If I owned a restaurant I would kick you out of it. I think you need serious help with your issues, and we cant help you here.

This is the worst thread ever. I just had to rant. The op sounds like a baby.

Actually this is not based on one bad performance , lat night was just the final straw

Please believe me , I truly think George is a " good guy " and I think he deserves a lot of credit for hosting live shows on holidays i.e Christmas and such

But having said that he has a job and his job requires more then simply showing up and being nice .

Having said that , I feel that if he applied himself , i.e reading and researching , ignoring fastblast's , that he would be a " good interviewer " in his own right .

Although in the defense of George , I bet it was not an easy task , jumping in to fill Art's shoes .

Being a nice guy will never make him a good host.....

Please don't hold back , tell us how you really feel ?

Well the position you are putting forward can not be resolved . You are saying the same thing that I am saying , he is a nice guy Agreed

Having said that I feel that he can do a far better job as the host of Coast conducting interviews if he only put some effort into it .

Once again he is a nice guy

I would simply like to see him improve upon his interviewing skill , the whole reason he is on Coast in the first place , least we forget .

What amazes me is that the sponsors haven't bailed on George a long time ago.

Also what amazes me it the "suck ups" to George telling him how great he is.

I am always amazed how George can have an interesting guest and turn what should be a great interview into schlock by interrupting the guest and asking irrelevant questions.

Knapp, Ian, Marrs, Pee Wee Herman, anyone....

You may have a great idea !

Perhaps George can do open line specials every Friday night , something he enjoys doing and they can bring in other potuntal hosts during the week

Good idea
