But in a surprise buried at the end of the 289-page report, the inspector general also reveals that the Obama administration issued a secret rule almost two weeks ago saying it was legal for the FBI to have skirted federal privacy protections

It seems that your privacy is not a concern when the FBI calls it "an emergency or national security". And yes, that does include YOUR phone records not just those of Bin Laden and his sleeper cells & agents here in the US or abroad.

The FBI and telecom companies collaborated to routinely violate federal wiretapping laws for four years, as agents got access to reporters’ and citizens’ phone records using fake emergency declarations or simply asking for them.

Apparently they (FBI) simply make up their own rules under the Patroit Act and then act according to whatever they are doing at the time.

In its statement on the report, the FBI excused itself for its failure to follow the law.

Story here

Its time to stop this breech of our privacy people. I understand they have to combat terror but not at the expense of mine or your privacy. We expect our phone conversations to be private and this is a clear indicator as to the failures and path that our nation is going down.

Its time for a change people unlike what we have now. Can we do it? Yes we can
