I agree with you completely.

The problem with American government is that it has been co-opted by a series of interlocking "complexes", which, at their core, is the octopus-like chart of multinationals that are "running" our world.

Military Industrial Complex

Surveillance Industrial Complex

Prison Industrial Complex

Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex

Health Insurance Industrial Complex

Is the size of the government the problem? While I don't want big government, I would say no, it is not the problem. The problem is crony capitalism and a world built on greed.

I've always thought that everything should be small. Businesses should be capped on how large they can be...and government also has to be small. If either one becomes to large....well we are seeing those results as we speak.

Republicans will bring massive tax breaks for corporations soon. Middle class will get alittle back...but the deficit will continue to explode.

Quite frankly...i've given up on ideology. I simply do not care on the "vision" conservatives or liberals have for a perfect society because it doesn't exist....but I do believe that we should always help those in need in this country.

Many of us believe n the same things. It's been one year and all the sudden Republicans are great again. LOL.

They added the tax cut in the stimulus package. Did you notice it? I sure as hell didn't.

Btw....to be on topic...

Obama is making another mistake. If Republicans are going to claim him to be a Socialist.....then he might as well ACT LIKE ONE. He's going to get slammed either way.

So far his Presidency has been nothing short of terrible. He's losing support because he is pleasing no one.

Although I will state....I could really use the extra money for the child tax credit that he has proposed.

There's a good possibility that you will notice that tax cut when you file your taxes and find out that they want it back...
I know I did!

if they are serious about cutting their spending, maybe I make a suggestion, first and foremost, no more save the toads or bridges to nowhere??
cut the crap out of it first!!

then, well, be fair about it, something like 10% across the board.
But really, what I read initially about this was he wanted to set up a bipartisan plan to come up with ideas how and where to cut the spending, yes...but also increase the taxes....

so, well, what I am reading here is we're gonna be paying more, and getting a heck of alot less.
unless of course, we are a big ceo of one of these defense contractors.

Ha ha is right! For example, during Bush we saw a new addition of the militaristic wing of the Federal Government formed, the Department of Homeland Security. These dudes have a great $52 billion yearly budget... and most certainly straddle the line between several of the complexes I pointed out above.

I very much like the idea of capping the size of business. Doing so would prevent not only the multinational corporations that manipulate and control the global economy, but also stop the mega-companies such as Wal-Mart and Starbucks that are systematically destroying small American business, and even begin to curb the outsourcing of jobs to Free Trade Zone sweat shops in the Third World. A small company could also fit the structure of the worker cooperative as well. The transition would be hell, of course, but when the dust settles I believe the world would be a better place. Can you imagine the backlash, though, if the government were to announce a cap on business size?

I continue to find it interest the common ground many of us with opposing political stances share. And don't worry, when the Republicans win the next presidential election, everyone will float back to being a Democrat. People's tide-like ebb and flow will never end because people will never be happy with the current corrupted two-party system in place due to the fact that neither party has the people's best interest at heart.
