Just wondering if there were any ATS'ers who are JJ Cale Fans. If so I would love to hear how you got turned on to him. Because he has spent his
life avoiding the spot light, he is kinda obscure. In his own words, "I want to be able to go into Denny's and get a sandwich." I love how he
never truly sold out. He was once asked to do a performance on Dick Clarks American Bandstand. When he mentioned having his band come along, he was
told, "You don't need them, we're going to have you move your lips to one of your recordings." He declined the offer despite the guaranteed fame
it would bring and a begging and pleading manager. He told them, "I am a musician not an actor." Love that story.
Usually there is someone who has great taste in music and knows the hidden gems of the underground who introduces him around their respected
communities. So I would love to hear your stories and which tunes or cd's are your favorites.
He is most famous for writing the well known cuts Cocaine, After Midnight, Call Me the Breeze, Don't Cry Sister Cry, and many others. Not hard to
figure out that Eric Clapton made him a very rich man. Eric thinks he is a genius and one of the most influential American musicians, right up there
with Elvis. Much of Clapton's style is influenced, borrowed or stolen depending who you talk to from JJ Cale.
