I started the game cheering for the Saints because of my dislike for the Vikings (Packer fan here), but over the course of the game I found myself
wanting the Vikings to win so Brett could get a shot at another Super Bowl.
I have a few issues with this game, though:
1: Horrible pass interference call in overtime to set the Saints up for a field goal.
2: The NFL needs to change this stupid coin flip rule in overtime. BOTH teams should get at least one possession. Don't let a damn coin flip decide a
game, especially one as important as this.
3: For those Vikings fans out there who are blaming Brett for this - shut the hell up. I dare ANY of you to say you would have rather had Tarvaris
Jackson out there. And unless you are willing to say that, you have no business blaming him for this loss.
Adrian Peterson fumbled three times. Despite what the official stats say, he fumbled on that exchange between him and Favre. Yes Brett threw two
interceptions but they could have easily overcome those had they just held on to the damn ball.
This was a team loss. But if it weren't for Brett, the Vikings would have not only never had a shot at winning this game but also would have never
made it to the NFC Championship.
I think Brett may be done. I think the physical and mental toll this game took on him will be too much. I have great respect for the guy and am happy
for what he has done over his career and it is sad to see him go but I think this is it.
Having said that, if he is done: Good luck next year, Vikings fans. Don't be too shocked when you see a free fall in your offensive production.
