Oil Spilled at East Texas Port as Ships Collide

www.time.com

PORT ARTHUR, Texas) — A crude oil spill in a southeast Texas port that happened when a tanker and towing vessel collided Saturday was not expected to spread beyond a two-mile area, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

It was unclear exactly how much oil spilled into the water, but the Coast Guard said it could have been as much as 450,000 gallons.

Don't you just love ecological disasters?

I haven't seen any news of this on the MSM, just on Time. A bit strange I think..

I wonder what kind of cleanup this will require and perhaps Obama will use this to push his green agenda along during the State of The Union address on Wednesday.

Thoughts ATS?

That's not the MSM...

I was thinking CNN, FOX, MSNBC, you know the big dealers, not news paper publications or Youtube....

And obviously the question was sarcastic. Please add something to the thread next time.

Thanks for the links...

I do not know how you could not consider the Wall Street Journal "Alternative".

The youtube Video is an uploaded broadcast from a local affiliate via Associated press.

No conspiracy here, just an accident.

My apologies, I didn't check the Wall Street Journal, your right that is pretty mainstream lol.

And no conspiracy I know, just an interesting topic to discuss, and also the little bit about Obama's green agenda, I am sure somebody will try to use this as an example to push it throught.

Here is a news article with pictures and details.

Here is where the spill occurred. I used the bridge in the background of one of the photos and found it on Google Maps.

The spill happened Saturday when an 800-foot tanker collided with a towing vessel pushing two barges near Port Arthur. The tide lifted the two ships and they separated shortly after midnight Sunday without more oil being spilled, Petty Officer Richard Brahm said.

That is the first I've heard of them being separated.
