And, because I can't get it out of my head...

Symphony No. 6 by Tchaikovsky is by far my favorite symphony ever (which is, by default, an instrumental). Never has a piece of music inspired more writing, more emotion, more visualizations of not yet existent movies than that piece of music. There's no video I found that played the whole thing, but no piece of music has been able to capture my angst as a teenager as well as my coming to accept myself post-adolescence in the way that piece of music has been able to.

Metallica, Michael W. Smith, good job, but you don't hold a candle to my Russian friend there
