Ok - So it's a hypothetical scenario. It would be better to include that in the OP. Anyway, this belongs in the "survival" thread me thinks.

So you are misinformed and unintelligent.

Doesn't interest me either way.

Basically because everything in the U.S. has been exported to China and other countries. In the long run, where else is the dollar going? I still think this belongs in the "survival" thread as it is "hypothetical" . the OP should have made that more clear.

No Im long Dollar vs NZD and long Dollar vs. AUD and will try to get a better position to short EUR/USD. Really IMO AUD is what you should be shorting and you can go long against EUR/AUD

Read tommarrows headline today.

Maybe not tommarrow (As in Saturday 1/23/10), but it will happen. It's really a certainty, not a hypothetical.

Did you think the dollar would last forever?

I do not. Explain why this doesn't belong in the survival thread? Just by saying "read tomorrows headline" doesn't necessarily imply it to be "hypothetical". You may be implying that you have inside knowledge of this *actually_happening_tommorrow. It happens all the time on ATS. Or maybe you are psychic? Theres a thread for that too... But in this case it's "what if tomorrows news headline read: the dollar collapsed?? What would be do??" Hence survival forum...

we digress....

OP had a question, and it was a good one. What will take the place of money when it all crashes down?

It is about survival though.

Ok- In the case the subject is actually "What will take the place of money when it all crashes down? " I think the title for your OP should be named that as signals suggested, if you still have time.

As of right now, gold and oil are down in$$. The $$ is up against the Euro, Ruble, Yuan, and Peso.

Real estate, residential and commercial, do not appreciate as steadily as the dollar.

Do you have any idea what you post?

OK Wookiep I changed the headline just for you and your brother GreenBicMan.

Now please tell me how you would answer the question.

Changing the headline of the OP doesn't buy you any more credibility.

"Collapse of the dollar" is relative. It only matters in things that are measured in dollars.

Most things are not.

Many things that are measured in dollars are also measured in other things that translate into dollars.

There is a difference between intrinsic value and relative value. Some people will never learn the difference.
