Scary stuff. This stuff could be killing off the bees and it's effects on humans haven't been studied. As far as we know, it could be eating away at us from the inside.

Right now there is no way to tell if the food you're buying is GMO. The FDA refuses to make them lable the food. Monsanto even sued a company for advertizing "GMO free" on it's packaging.

Is there somewhere we could get a transcript of that?

Great post.

there is an 8 digit number on all foods, if it starts with 8 it has GMO if it starts with 9 its organic.

also check out the original youtube video which has some great links to get up to speed on Monsanto and GMO foods

www.youtube.com...

To the negative comments on here, this is not a professional ad, its a group of girls from all over the world who are friends on youtube that decided to make a collaboration video.

in my opinion, its great for a home made project.

Alright, fair enough. For a homemade project they did pretty good. I am used to PETA videos and that's all I am going to say about that. On their video (from the youtube page) they even posted links to their information which I thought was good, because I questioned some of the statements.

You did a good job of clearing all of that up.

I do happen to have a bag of organic chips here with me, is the number around the bar code?

Yes the farmer will have to pay monsanto because a law was in place in the 90's creating the "patent to life" rights. Monsanto can sue because you now have their DNA in your crop, eventhough it was caused by "nature".

Watch the movie Food Inc and you will learn plenty. Monsanto tried to come back and say that the movie does not answer every questions but it doesn't take a rock scientist to truly understand what they're doing.

My wife is doing everything she can to:

A: not buy any GMO, rBGH milk and meat products

B; fight monsanto after she found out that they were the creators of Agent Orange (her father died because of it in 'nam)

she is repulsed by them and has written to our senator and governor and all parties involved to no longer do business with those people. they should not be allowed in our government, their practices are killing everyone.

I couldn't find the link to the verbatim opinion but Monsanto lost the suit. If Monsanto is going to be taken down, the attackers need to be scrupulously accurate about anti-Monsanto statements. The suit was not about a company advertising "GMO free". It was against Oakhurst Dairy who stated on its milk labels that its milk contained no rBGH, an artificial bovine growth hormone. That's totally different than GMO. Monsanto sued and lost. As a scientist, I am sceptical of the claims about genetically engineered foods. Man and nature have both been engineering foods for millenia. When you go to your local frmer's market, look at the "heirloom" tomatoes. And then look at the other common ones. We have been engineering the bumps and spots and weird lobes out of them by selecting which seeds get planted. With that said, I agree that Monsanto is a scourge that needs to be eliminated. Its tactics are abominable. It has lasted this long because it sells very little direct to the consumer and thereby avoids massive consumer rage. Most consumers don't care what happens to the poor farmer as long as they keep getting cheap food.
