Well, YOU cant own one...just yet..

LAS VEGAS – With two prototype modules for a commercial space station already circling the Earth, Bigelow Aerospace is gearing up for a full-scale assault on space.
For the upstart firm, it's about volume — and not entirely in the sense of quantity or number of items sold. The company's expandable module designs are designed to offer low-cost commercial volume in space — for rent or lease — not only to private sector interests, but also to national space agencies.

Interesting stuff.
The private sector is really working it.
The end of the article provides yet another idea toward the fabled "Moon Base".

What are your thoughts, fellow ATS'ers?

I like how you shamelessly self-promote your thread on my thread

What these companies need, are minds like ours. We can create a marketable package deal.

Space Station & Spaceship package bundle: $50,000,000

We get 10%, of course.

Too bad the poor people who could really make good use of their time up there probably won't end up ever having that chance.

Maybe not in our lifetimes, no.
I dont think they would be officially "private" for quite a while.
But when they DO become private, I imagine it would be like Carl Segan's classic book, "Contact". The extremely rich would be able to have a place up there. Like......like a timeshare property.

Eventually, like all things that are expensive, the price will come down. Now, nobody on welfare will be going to the stations, but perhaps the middle class could score a trip.

Only the rich would be able to afford this, sad but true
