One more thing - those of you that think this is "racist" obviously have never had to deal with hordes of unruly people from another ethnicity before. You have obviously never lived in their neighborhoods or dealt with them in any sort of way where you had to deal with attitude and hatred simply because you are white. Obviously they aren't all like this but most are.

Most of the people who call things like this racist probably live in cozy little white areas where they can speculate from afar how horrible it is that white people would want to be around other white people. That or you are in some other situation where you don't have to be around it all the time and deal with it because, if you did, you would share in the feelings others have concerning the issue. When you cannot even enjoy your own culture because it has been taken over by other ones and you are the only group that cannot do independent things because it's "racist", even though every other group is allowed to do it, then you can understand. Otherwise you will ignorantly pull the racism card every time your ideal is not matched by reality.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Let's back up a step here. I have no problem with people associating with whom they please, supporting what they choose, spending their money where they see fit.

In this case, the guy's entire premise is flawed.

Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of "street-ball" played by "people of color."

Style of basketball has no color. It's absurd on the face of it. Bob Knight had plenty of players "of color" and they were as fundamentally sound and well disciplined as any teams who have ever played. Mike Krzyzewski at Duke, the same way.

Anyone honestly think the motivation here is in the emphasis on the style?

Contact Ellie Gunderson. She was/is the President of Georgetown Universities NAACP chapter, and she is white. I'm sure she can help you.

His premise is that he doesn't want to play B-ball with the guys from the 'hood. That's not flawed, it's a choice. He should be free to get a league together of like-minded people.

The flaw is in the assumption that fundamental basketball is based upon color. You could certainly start a league devoted to fundamentally sound basketball, motion offense, 5 passes before a shot, strictly man-to-man defense, etc etc and leave complexion out of it altogether.

He can do whatever he wants, I happen to have an opinion about it. He can have his little Aryan Basketball League, it's no skin off my onion. The problem I have is in associating negative context to something as irrelevant as ethnicity. There are plenty of jerks, and fine people, of all ethnicities. Anyone who thinks the 'hood mentality is unique to a specific ethnic background hasn't been paying much attention.

"He should be free to get a league together of like-minded people."

Like-minded people or like-colored people that resemble him? If it is like-minded people why limit it to whites as there are most likely people of all races who enjoy basketball the same way as he does (blacks included.)

Miss Black USA? Is that like-minded or alike in COLOR. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I hope no one wants to call me a racist, I am not all white. White, black, and American Indian.

Is it possible the whole thing is a hoax?

The "commissioner" Don "Moose" Lewis, is an out of work wrestling promoter. I'm sure he knows about hype. Announcement came on MLK Day. Is it possible the whole thing is just a fabrication designed to do some provoking? I remember when it was called "race baiting".

It is thought-provoking, if it is just a hoax. The Miss Black USA Pageant needs to have the same negative opinions thrown at it as this did, but the pageant has existed for quite some time with no one slinging mud at it. There is no difference.

What's the problem? the word "White" is racist now?

You clearly have an Asian American ONLY basketball league .... www.naabl.com...

I wan't it banned if a Caucasian American Basketball League is not allowed, I then wan't every other "race ONLY" institutions like churches, clubs, and colleges to close down.

How damn narrow minded some of you are, deny ignorance not flaunt it like the above posts......

Looking at the site, I see that they are promoting 'diversity' with their Asian Basketball League. OKAY! Where is the uproar about these "racists"?

No, it should be MISS AMERICA, now do we need to go into why there is a MISS BLACK AMERICA? Where did this come from?

"Rule number seven," which stated that "contestants must be of good health and of the white race."

www.pbs.org...

Black women were not allowed to participate in MISS AMERICA which is why you have a MISS BLACK AMERICA.

Blacks didn't enter MISS AMERICA until 1970 and it took 14 years for a black woman to win it. They started MISS BLACK AMERICA in the late 60's (68 I believe) because they couldn't enter it. HELLO IN THERE! R-E-A-D the link!!!!

He pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas' indefinite suspension after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room, as examples of fans' dissatisfaction with the way current professional sports are run.
End Quote

WTF what are we coming to here, why are you people kowtowing to anti constitutionalists?

Why is nobody calling out this fake white man? What is wrong with having guns in your locker. This is how it starts, no guns in the locker, no guns in the car, on you. I'm sick of all this no gun commie propaganda.

I want to know if these Free White Men are going to be allowed to "bear arms"?

It's one thing to take gun rights from illegal alien criminals, but why do these Men have to come to a game unarmed? That' it for me, no guns, no dice.

These are "Natural Born American" both parent Caucasian, now they tell them no guns? What's next? No beer?

They also better fix the Caucasian thing cause that would allow people from the Caucus mountain area, they are technically Caucasian but a lot of them are mixed bloded.

All you socialists better stop making false claims, I know this is a hoax cause no Patriotic American would ever complain about somebody bringing a gun.

It's a hoax white brothers, don't take the bait.

Thanks for pointing out the hypocrisy. On one hand you have the right to bear arms but on another you're wrong as two left shoes for bearing arms.

I believe that you have the capability of showing your ignorance as well. Racism is not a one-sided street. From your views on this matter, it would seem that you only look at things from one side. Just an observation. I read my own posts and think about them as well as other's posts.
