My opinion is that as the polls slide, so will their enthusiasm. They will always cater to the majority audience or the political flavor of the
moment. They are aware that people want to feel that their opinions are validified, and they want to be entertained. The notion that the news is there
to inform and empower are long since dust.
Another example is their self-centered hero-worship covering Haiti. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Dr Gupta or their other enjoy (I
forget his name) who happened to save a boy amidst the looting. They have done great things at an individual level and I commend them for it. But
let's be honest, their self agrandisement comes with viewership in mind.
The bottomline, to me, is that they are accutely aware of what people want to read. And they act on it.
