You raise a very good point, and between Ron Paul and the Tea Party Movement it is very likely that there was enough fear placed in the establishment to push through something that would guarantee a difficult time for any potential 3rd party candidates.

I hadn't even thought of that angle, thanks end.

I would suggest everyone BLAMING conservatives, to stop and think for a second.

I am a fiscal conservative, constitutional libertarian, social liberal blah blah blah.

Get this straight, the one thing I have always hated is the corporate personhood. Okay Jean Paul, if you see this cut me slack, this has nothing to do with conservatism in any shape or form.

You can blame the lawyers and the corporations.

This has been going on now for 100 frelling years.

Corporations are given all the rights of people, with none of the drawbacks.

As a sole proprietor of a company, I can be held liable for my actions in that company. Whereas the corporations set up by the frelling lawyers in our society have led us down this frelling path.

Put the blame where it BELONGS, the lawyers and the elite.

This has NOTHING to do with liberal or conservative, maybe the people behind the NEW FANGLED PROGRESSIVE movement.

Every major player since the JFK era has led to this point. All of them.

Nuff said, rant complete.

American democracy has become a contradiction in which social equality is no longer defined by the people, but by the elites and special interests.

Wow. Corporate owned America has just become...Corporate owned America. Don't worry. I'm positive they will spend their money wisely. Maybe now people will vote third party if only out of principle. But I doubt it.

Except of course when Conservative leaders are the one's who tortured people, started illegal wars, spied on Americans and now handed over elections to corporations.

When you elect leaders who pick judges like this they have to come from somewhere.

Democracy died today.

This is a serious blow to democracy.

Before someone else reminds you, remember, It's a republic not a democracy. Semantics aside, democracy died a long time ago. Now it's the law. " Introducing TPOTUS, brought to you by, Mcdonalds." The Mcpresident.

I am very antisocial...that said I am ready to come out of my shell and start campaigning for third parties who vow never to take money from corporations and destroy the lobbying machine. We need people without college degrees in office. People who think 175k a year is all the money they will ever need.

It has been dieing a long and agonizing death for a long time.

When I state conservative or liberal, I am talking about people and ideals.

You cannot equate people and ideals to what our government has become.

They are all elitist scum that are like huge leaches on society.

Welfare for the rich and elites. That is what the rest of society has become for the government and these succubus (&%&($&##&(%#&.

I try to say this again and again, the people on the left and the right are not that far apart on their ideals.

The divide and conquer is running rampant now, do not fall for it!

I'm really amazed at times. This is being done by conservetives? This is being done by liberals? The truth is if one of them doesn't do it the other does. Some of you people act like the dems or repubs are not in on the take government away from the people to which it belongs and give it to the corporations agenda. It seems to me a lot of you need to wakeup a bit and understand we do not have a government of by and for the people. The president is bought and payed for just like congress and the judicial branch. They've been bought and payed for,for many years.Whether this is constitutional or not makes no difference to them and as long as your so worried about blaming this on conservitives or liberals both of them will keep right on ignoring the constitution and the country will keep getting worse.Keep thinking the conservitives or the liberals are going to save you. They love it.
Have a wonderful day!

Do not become an elitist and start talking down to people.

Maybe if things were kept simple-KISS-maybe all of this would not have happened, eh?

How many pages in the health care bill, 2700?

How is THAT going to solve any problems?

Quit with the divisiveness and get on board.

Man, I have been stumping and voting Libertarian for pert near 20 years. When People ask me, "Who'd you vote for?", I tell 'em and they say, "Good way to throw away your vote." At this point I don't care if people vote Tea Party, Green, Independent, Socialist, Communist or Loony Party. It's time to tell the Dem?Rep the free ride is over. The end to the celebrity "statesman. Death to media driven, corporate funded celebrity "statesmen."

Before someone else reminds you, remember, It's a republic not a democracy.

I get reminded all the time. My response:

Republic:

- a representative democracy: applied to almost every form of government except kingdoms, empires and dictatorships
[Funk and Wagnalls New Practical Standard Dictionary, 1947]

- a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote...
[Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, 1983]

I admit that there has been a concerted, well-organized and well-orchestrated campaign to change the word's definition, and in the process, destroy US democracy.

Rather than argue to convince people they never HAD a democracy in the first place, and therefor have nothing to fight for - why not acknowledge that the whole notion of the USA is grounded in the idea of government by the people, for the people?

The original concept was about turfing the monarchies and letting people govern themselves - not to replace monarchies with corporations.

This has to be the most depressing news I have had in a long, long time.

Thank God that the Supreme Court has the people's interests at heart. Now we will have every politician get the chance to openly show the fact that they're bought off.

Disgusting.

The Supreme Court rules on Constitutionality, not imposing new law to help people.

As much as this ruling may suck, it is the correct constitutional ruling. There needs to be a constitutional amendment for this sort of reform to stand. When this was originally passed, most legal scholars said it would be shot down in the supreme court. This has been long expected.

How could anyone say the court just upheld the Constitution?

THIS IS FASCISM.

READ IT. THIS IS FACISM.

The joining of Business and Government.

I just got home listening to Sean Hannity say this is a victory for Free Speech. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Corporations can now sink as much money as they want into adds and can DESTROY ANY POLITICIAN or MAKE THEM A SAINT.

Or entire political process has finally been COMPLETELY comprimised.

You thought it was corrupt before? Well it's over now. Don't bother with the elections anymore as no one will have a chance that SPEAKS AGAINST CORPORATIONS.

For instance, if I decided to run...not only would I not get any airtime...I would also be destroyed and or ignored by corporate money which is basically limitless.

THIS INCLUDES THE BANKS.

HOLY HELL PEOPLE HOW CAN U SAY THIS UPHOLDS THE CONSTITUTION.

THIS DESTROYS THE VERY ESSENCE OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take back your country. It was just taken from you. You now have NO REPRESENTATION.

NONE

Where is Glenn Beck on this? Where is the great defender of our COnstitution?

DOES HE NOT CARE THAT INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONS OWNED BY COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA AND ANY OTHER COUNTRY CAN NOW EASILY COMPROMISE OUR DEMOCRACY!?!?!?!

ANYONE who supports this is a FRAUD.

PERIOD.

Whether it be GLenn Beck, Sean Hannity, ANYONE.

THEY ARE FRAUDS.

I got to vote for the first time in 04. I have voted republican everytime since then. My beliefs are those of libertarian. This year I will make my first vote go somewhere besides republican. They have us in a tug of war between right and left (while both sides are completely wrong) and plan on keeping us there forever. They know they have job security that way..it is time for it to end.

Perhaps the old Supreme Court did that. These days constitutionality takes a back seat to opinion and special interests. Otherwise, no one would care what political affiliation any of the Justices have because they would rule solely upon the Constitution.

There is no need for a Amendment to tell us that Corporations aren't people. They aren't people.

As much as this ruling may suck, it is the correct constitutional ruling.

So you are saying that corporations owned by other countries have Constitutional rights? You agree that they have the same rights as a human beings?

This is outrageous. I can't believe anyone would support this. The corporations already own all the media...now there is absolutely no doubt that they will own both parties.

Which means there will be only ONE party...and that party will not represent you or me or any other person who is barely hanging on right now.

This ruling DESTROYS OUR SOVEREIGNTY AS A NATION. International companies who do not care about our Constitution will now control our country and all the elected officials in our government.

I'm old. I first voted in 1980 for a guy named John Anderson. Some of the older members may remember that name. He ran against Reagan and Mondale. I think it was Mondale. I'm not trying to convert anyone. But find an alternative that works for you. The stranglehold has to end sometime.
