We don't need to have an image. We are America and we are great. We do great things everyday all over the world.

Wow. What a 'touchy feely' story. That has restored my faith in the "U.S' robber-baron mentality".
I will sleep better now knowing that our fanancial controllers do actually care, and are not there only for the spoils. Not.

Good to hear that but didn't we hear the same thing before in MSM when USA invaded Iraq? It turned out later it was staged show and the Iraqi gave people gave their voice in the form of shoe on Bush's face. I know it's a cheap shot but I doubt AIPAC controlled govt. can do anything without hidden motives.

Not being funny, but is this just a thread for Americans to be self-congratulatory and pat themselves on the back?

The U.S is doing a great job, but you're not very humble about it are you?

We respect you helping to save lives. That's the U.S i like and remember, but you don't have to make a big song and dance about it everytime you save someone. It's a little embarrassing.

Exactly
Not like the rest of the world INCLUDING CUBA is involved or anything..

Yes, can all Americans give themselves a pat on the back for the positive things that are happening but please let's have less of the I AM THE BIG I AM attitude.
We have all duly applauded and touched our forelocks, ok?

i feel many in this thread are confusing something, the u.s. government and the people of the u.s. are two totally different things.

I agree with you, hopefully the people who hate the US will realize this too and stop attacking its citizens.

Its incredible, even as they herald the efforts of our rescuers, many of the Tin-Foil Hat brigade here on ATS still find ways to insert bashes of this country and government. Things like "even though this is a sick government" or whatever.

When will you get it through your thick skulls that there are no conspiracy theories that have any validity? I can't even believe someone created a thread stating that the quake was man-made.

When i first saw this posted i avoided it like the plague, last thing i wanted to read was how superior the US was in humanitarian efforts.

As most people i am touched by the clip and what the US has done through its fundraisers with celebrities to the aid they have provided i think that has been phenomenal. As of now lets wait and see how much makes it to the Haitians.

I had intentions of coming on here with a chip on my shoulder because like some people had mentioned no other nations are really mentioned or at best second handidly, but then i caught myself. This is a thread dedicated to that reason the US pride. If my country or any other nation would like to sit back and relish in some of the pride they have gotten from their countries efforts after this earthquake then by all means start a different thread.

This one can stay, for as long as possible, as a bright spot to get your occasional Gob Bless The USA in.

really i would like to know what horrible evil things the usa has done? I understand we had no right to attack Iraq and Guantanamo bay was well wrong i agree however does it compare to germanys holocaust , spains inquisition, saddams use of chemical weapons, japanese death marches, napoleans wars, the uks imperialism, soviet purges? all im trying to say is with a few exceptions most nations have some demons of their own. I am an American and i am proud of my nation although i realize it has faults many faults.

What I find interesting is that I have heard a few interviews and the citizens said: US don't help any members of our government.

I can only imagine the hate.

I do think this provides an opportunity for the UN to rebuild Haiti.

Where's France? Venezuela? China?

France are there.

You wont see much of the other countries representation on television however if you live in the States

Here are some links showing a few other countries lending a hand.
French rescuers
British rescue team
Russian rescuers
Australian news crew
Mexican crew

It's good to see the US troops there though. This is what the armed forces should be for rather than war IMO.

I was just thinking, in spite of the tragedy, maybe Haiti can rise from this terrible calamity and be a stronger nation. It was already the poorest country of the Americas; they have vast farming land which is not used, 99 percent of the food is imported, and the majority of people there were already hungry; they actually eat "mud cookies".

I just pray that with the re-birthing of their homeland they will find new opportunity and be more prosperous.

Isn't is funny, just those few people chanting USA, and we're like putty in their hands.

For those getting upset about the comment i made, perhaps you should read it again.

Where exactly did i criticise the aid and rescue efforts of the United States?

My comment was directed against this thread.

Perhaps you should all read things more closely instead of being so quick to jump down my throat.

I was NOT criticising the American rescue efforts. However judging by the responses i received it's a good job, as most Americans don't seem able to accept any criticism.
