What an Underground Nuclear Detonation Looks Like (Video)

Just came across this on Google video, shows the impact of a underground nuclear test from a helicopters (blimp?) p.o.v.

Very neat to watch how the land collapses from the explosions.

Can't help but wonder how safe this practice really is tho...

OP I think you will like this video. It is about the largest man made crater ever made by a nuclear explosion. It created the 'atomic lake.'

You can also check out on GE the largest crater in the US, Sedan crater. It is WSW of groom lake. That was part of a project to pursue a peaceful atomic program. It ended up being the largest single release of radiation ever on America.

If you look at the terrain map on GE you can see the sedan crater, and a bunch of others in that area.
