Obviously it's much more worthwhile to spend money on killing women and children to secure oil for the Bush crime syndicate, rather than saving some poor people in the Caribbean.

To answer to the title of the thread :

The general population of the U.S. is not evil. The government is. The general population of the U.S. is not at fault for the shortcomings of the U.S. government.

To answer to the OP:

The U.S. has alot of money, it is a rich country, (although it is currently in a little rut...) so it's only natural that it gives what it can, which is usually much more than most other countries.
