yes, some countries have been saddled with debt that they cannot escape.

How do you think it is that you can go but a electric coffee pot at walmart for 13 dollars?

How do you think it is that rich countries don't suffer from hyperinflation and the standard of living is high?

do you think you get all that from your tax base?

No, you get it by raping the rest of the planet and shielding your citizens from any knowledge of that while propping up stories about how much you are helping.

In the 1820s, the former President proposed a scheme for taking away the children born to black slaves in the United States and shipping them to Haiti. In that way, Jefferson posited that both slavery and America’s black population could be phased out. Eventually, in Jefferson’s view, Haiti would be all black and the United States white.

This reminds me of some research I did not too long ago. It had to do with the assassination of Thomas Sankara. You know what happened to him when he decided to lead his people away from paying back that countries loan? He was assassinated. Check out the quick video and read what is being said.

The Americans were not happy with Sankara. He was talking of nationalizing his country’s resources to benefit his people. He was a socialist so he had to go.

So let me guess that George Bush somehow aimed earthquakes at Haiti because he hates black people.

Ask yourself this.

Q: Would you ever go on vacation to Haiti?
A: No

Q: Did you care anything about Haitian plight before this earthquake?
A: No

Q: One year from now will you still be talking about Haiti?
A: No

Sorry for all those poor people, but this is just the current news cycle. Give it a few weeks and you'll all forget about them.

Yes that is true, but the debt was to be repaid in Gold no money, the debt was repaid in the 40s and after that the heavy embargoes enforced by the US and Britain along with France had depleted Haiti wealth.

Maybe a bit of an exaggeration? You think?

You might want to explain how a couple billion people in Japan, China, India, Korea, Taiwan, and other parts of Asia have escaped the hyperinflation and expensive bullets in the body syndrome.

Maybe honest governments, advanced education, better distribution of wealth, proper resource management, modern agriculture, coming to terms with reality and governing populations in the millions.

Some places have responsible leadership, some don't.

It makes all the difference in the world.

very interesting topic.

I didn't know about the loans and how the strugle to keep wages low has been gone through for decades.

I was surprised to read aout it in my newspaper this morning, it was a true WTF?!

It is sick that these things happen thanks to the international greedy bankers.

I keep saying, this world won't improve as long as countries still have colonies.

The big picture here is that developed nations have created a social model that cannot be sustained without coveting other nations natural resources...

So we covet oil, minerals, even labor....etc. by creating an economical colonialism through "foreign aid" which are reallly manipulated loans set up so that corporations profit while the country defaults on a loan they can't possibly pay back.

So we then make good on the loan payment by coveting their natural resources and privatize them for our benefits....

Its slavery in an economic form that is just as disgusting as war.....

Think for a minute........Developed nations have dumped 45 billion in "aid" to Africa since WW2 and are they better off today?

Either we are insane for thinking we can do the same thing over and over and expect different results............

Or there is an alternative agenda to what "aid" really is........

Read the book "Confessions of an economic hit man" or look up a video on that subject on Youtube.....

It addresses a good bit of this.......

We can't continue to consume in a model that requires us to economically enslave many underdeveloped countries without it coming home to roost.

I've downsized my life and material needs significantly once I became enlightened to all this......

A lot has to do with government land being unused, people forced into tight locations which creates poverty in the midst of crowding.

This then leads to unhealthy living conditions.

Which leads to loans, which create more domestic problems. Incidentally earthquakes occur, creating real life and death situations where there should not be any.

Money isn't the probem. Money is merely a method to facilitate the exchange of goods. It cannot be a problem by itself.

To me, uncontrolled breeding and buying houses that you can't afford are the problems. I mean, look at what people do when they buy a house. They take out a loan $250,000, and think that the house is theirs, even though, what they've just done is indebted themselves to a lifetime of work, just for the sake of owning something that they'll have to relinquish, when they die.

Now the government does contribute to the problem by controlling the house prices, raising them much higher than they should be. However, it's the people's fault for falling for it. If they would just stop thinking of owning that $1 million house, then maybe the government would be forced to reduce the prices eventually, and they'd have money for any emergency.

Well, the house prices are actually down now anyway, so I guess supply and demand does work here.

Poverty begets poverty. When you're poor and have nothing to do, you have sex, without contraceptives, and conceive wildly. Since these people haven't been able to provide for themselves, much less the kids, naturally, the kids themselves grow up poor, perpetuating the cycle.

I think my idea of a "community school"(a place where people can eat, sleep and learn simultaneously) would be perfect here. It saves a lot of money and resources, from having to build everyone a house. And people would not be having sex in front of other people, at least I don't think.

It turns out that there are a surprising number of books which take a deeper, long-term look at the sources of Haiti's problems. So actually that's good news.

When I was reading today's New York Times front page story on orphans in Haiti, I surprised myself by bursting into tears. There is so much tragedy there that it's hard to fathom.

My family and I decided to donate to MSF (Doctors Without Borders) because they are not only on-the-ground in Haiti for some years now, but also they don't have much of a language barrier because they provide French-speaking doctors. In addition, MSF has a pretty good track record on keeping the lid down on their administrative expenses, so as a result, much of the donation dollar goes to the work, not to make their administrative fatcats any fatter.

Evidently, a lot of the earthquake fault that runs through Haiti has yet to do its thing. So there will be more to come, even in the near future. In addition, much of the earthquake hazard for Haiti is particularly difficult to understand since so much of the fault zone is underwater, making it relatively inaccessible for study.
