well my bad then?
was sb-2099 not 2009 and at this source
it states:

Is it true that . . . Senate Bill SB-2099 will require owners of firearms to pay a $50 charge per gun and list each gun on their federal tax form?

The answer is no. This Internet rumor states that SB-2099 is legislation currently being considered by the Senate. The bill supposedly requires owners of firearms to list on their 1040 tax return all guns they own and then pay a $50 charge per firearm. There is no such legislation by this name in the 111th Congress.

So, evidently it is but rumor.

As I browsed through the senate and house sites, I did find it interesting that, if you go to this page -(Search Bill Text for the 111th Congress)-

and type "suspension of duty" in the "enter search" bar,
you will be amazed that most of the bills that are introduced for suspension of duty or extension of, on certain imports are for drugs.

As if by allowing import free of duty, the big pharmas will be able to make their concoctions and pills cheaper? Sound reasonable...

Do you think this will trickle down to the great American Consumer?

If you try the search (described above) you will be astonished at the amount of bills introduced to wave duty fees for drugs and at the enormous volume of these that are listed.

This thread Debunked, but what is found while attempting verification may be more of a conspiracy...

About time you get some gun-control! Even if only regular, nice people own guns, we know for a fact that all humans tend to act irrationaly in given circumstances. An irrational average joe with a gun is far worse than an average joe with a pair of scissors.

However, I agree on the fact that the process is done under the table, which is never good.

Only a population living in constant fear will feel the need to own an arsenal of guns. I hope your government will stop scaring you someday...

You've never seen some guys with a pair of scissors have you? Particularly those irrational ones you mention?

Guns even the odds against irrational Joes with Scissors as I see it...

This is what the NRA has to say about this bill:

There actually was a U.S. Senate bill with that number that would have taxed handguns -- nine years ago. It was introduced by anti-gun Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), and it would have included handguns under the National Firearms Act's tax and registration scheme. This has nothing to do with anyone's Form 1040, of course.

Fortunately, S. 2099 disappeared without any action by the Senate, back when Bill Clinton was still in the White House. We reported about it back then, just as we report about new anti-gun bills every week. Now, it's time for gun owners to drop this old distraction and focus on the real threats at hand.

Oh but, the Founding Fathers themselves were afraid of government. No fools they. You need to understand this fundamental fact.

I feel the need to strongly remind people here of Above Top Secret's long standing motto:

DENY IGNORANCE

Do some research on this stuff before you buy into it. It's fear mongering at it's best. Well, actually it's pretty baseless. It took me all of 5 minutes to debunk this thread. I'm sure you all can do the same.

No offense meant to anyone. I don't support Obama in any way, I'm just saying please research stuff before you automatically believe it's legit.

(Edit to add link)
Urban Legend Started In 2000

And this is just one of MANY MANY articles that prove this stuff isn't legit. As for HR 45. Just look at THIS. It's dead in the water with little to no chance of ever becoming law.

Like others had posted is a hoax

Gun Bill SB 2099 Internet Gun Control Rumor

Springfield, VA - -(AmmoLand.com)-Recently, there have been a lot of emails and phone calls about SB 2099 — a “new” bill that purportedly requires Americans to claim guns on their 1040 federal tax forms, provide fingerprints, and pay a $50 tax on each individual handgun they own.

The Hoax Reads:

Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It may require
fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.

This bill was introduced on Feb. 24. This bill will become public knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law. This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all.

The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage, www.senate.gov...

You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number, SB-2099.

This is simply not true. There is no S. 2099 in the Congress right now. This is simply a case of taking a little bit of truth from an old bill that was shot down, and creating a hoax. For more information, please visit the Snopes website, which is an excellent resource for debunking internet rumors.

I'm finding the same thing you are?

Snopes is claiming this as only partly true because it is a proposed bill. I also do not see a connection to obama? It's listed as the blair holt bill, it's been around since 2007, with little to no progress.

It wont matter though, people will star and flag and reply but not even read all that he wrote or the links... or what you and I posted.

I was starting to feel like I was in Bizarro world though, thank you for showing I may not be the insane one.

People give stars to those who live in their same reality, it doesn't matter if its true or not. Worldview has become more important then fact and as soon as that happened we were doomed to a death of a thousand cuts as a people.

We cannot move forward if we all live on our own private reality islands trying to rally everyone around our own illusional flags.

Till we unite on what is important and who we want to be, we will be forever shaking our fingers at those in power, yet they are meerly a reflection of our own division and apathy.

This whole push for gun control is not unexpected from Obama because to date, he has broken more promises than any sitting president in history. Obama is a paid sock puppet controlled by others. Obama understands that guns in America have to go for the final phase of dictatorship and a communist style world government to be a viable pursuit.

In fact, whenever Obama states he is going to do something, it means the opposite. If he states he is not going to do something, then you can count on it being done in such a manner that prevents the public from knowing. The only thing we can count on Obama to do, is to continue to lie to the American public because his current agenda is to change us from a Republic to a Socialist, Fascist government with Obama as the self elected Dictator.

This could explain Obama's recent and urgent push to control, limit and or suspend the Internet because informed citizens are starting to cause the Obama regime a problem. Too many are staying informed and are communicating with each other at a time when Obama wants no one to know or communicate with each other about anything that might undermine Obama's push to a dictatorial socialist, fascist form of government.

All the gun control measures are intended to force us to choose whether we are law abiding or whether we begin lying on a regular basis to prevent anyone in government from knowing whether we own guns or not. If we do not comply with these new rules then it ends in a fine and jail. The alternative to telling the truth is a fine and jail. That really means a FEMA death train ride to a FEMA death camp where you're re-education will be measured by how fast they can kill you.

Overall this latest Obama deception is understood for exactly what it is. A deception intended to prepare the American public for the communist purge of American society where anyone deemed unsuitable to live in the new world order is rounded up and killed with complete disregard for ethical and moral values.

This is the change and hope that Obama promised us and what he really meant is that he plans to do whatever he wants to declare himself dictator and to do so Obama understands that the guns need to be removed from the American public by whatever means can be created to begin separating guns from owners. Obama will use the UN and whatever bogus logic to disarm America and the sooner we accept that fact the sooner we will realize just what Obama is really doing and why he is doing it.

We have this kind of law already for ages here in Europe. Its forbidden to have guns/arms in Europe unless you are licensed by an shooting club. You get screened by the goverment herefore and they giving out the license.

Not like in the USA which you can buy a gun/firearm in the shop without having a license or being registered at the goverment.

Think it about the positive way! We in Europe do. We dont have guns/arms because nobody has one here. Only licensed people (cops/officers/shooting-club).

We also have much less murderings/killings/gangbangs here in Euro compared to the USA.

I not pointing the USA in a black light, but this law they should made it ages ago to make it safer!

The problem with gun control, is that it only hurts the LAW ABIDING CITIZENS. Do you really believe thugs and criminals report and register their weapons? They don't care about the laws. They're CRIMINALS. The only people gun control will hinder at all are the people who are actually willing to obey said laws.

I cannot stand it when people say unintelligent things like that. UGH!

This is absolutely untrue and reads like more gop mudslinging.

This should have had "the kenyan made a law" on it or something.
It is patently ridiculous to think that the US gov would run a shabby gun registration program.

keep it coming though with the disinfo, always interesting to watch partisans spin into a flaming nose dive of non reason and lack of rational thought.

Blaming Obama for this is just dumb.
If you know how the government works. You would know that the President only signs the law to make it binding.
The legislature comes up with the laws. The people you should be blaming are your congressman and representative.

Until the day we actually hold our elected officials responsible for their mistakes. We'll keep on comming up with these bonehead laws on the books.

The main problem with normal citizens understanding laws being disucessed by senate, is it's done in another language..

I know very few people, including myself, who can follow along with the legal-babbel on what most are talking about or bills written and passed by the government..

Most people glaze over and drool when they try and read a legal document..

So the current system is built on people not understanding what is going on.

i.e. all such things are cloak and dagger.

I was raised and still live in the hill country of the Southeastern U S. If the government thinks they can do anything about our getting, keeping ,and using our guns they better think again.
About two years ago two guys from the ATF went into an area not far from here searching for someone. One showed up about three months later, moved to another state and does not want to talk about it. The other has not been heard of as yet.
I am just passing on information - I knew both of these men - and I don't think anyone else has bothered to go down there since.
I would hazard to guess it would take a lot of very dedicated soldiers to come down here and do anything about our guns. Watch the history channels show about Hillbillies in a few nights and you may get an idea of what I am talking about.

You Sir, need to learn not to twist the facts and then give evidence of said fact twisting in the same breathe. Either you have zero shame or are not on a 4th grade reading level and got confused by the word partially on snopes. Sorry, but you desire the flamage. Believe it or not blaming Obama for every thing wrong in your life isn't going to solve your problems, trust me on that. Wow, I feel dumber just looking at this epic FAIL of a post...
