Apparently, it is against the "rules" to turn and face the crowd and "taunt". If he had kept facing forward while cheering, then he would have been left alone. With that being said, his is arrest was uncalled for...his actions were nothing that a friendly reminder couldn't have taken care of.

Key Points for those of you obviously here to bash cops and NOT see the TRUTH in all this:

2. It is easy to see the man is annoying others, AND is intoxicated, which sure isn't the end all, but obviously the officers were asked to come to that section and speak to the man. THAT MEANS..now pay attention...that PEOPLE around this guy complained or this guy WAS doing something to bring attention to himself.

Your 100% wrong with this point.

If all the people were angry with this guys "antics". Again a standard Jet Chant takes 20-30 seconds. Repeated, every 10 minites or so. Yes it is bothersome. But no more annoying than "LETS GO RANGERS! for a full 60 min straight at the Garden.

if your point 2 was correct how come not one single fan clapped when the police took this guy away? hmmmm?

Most everyone even CHARGER fans seemed upset with his removal. One guy in a Bolts jersey even gave the guys Girl friend(or wife) his number. I suppose to aid her as a witness if this ever did go to court. So please. Knock point "2" off your so-called Facts list.

Also after reading your posts I question if you've ever been to a stadium Football, Hockey, Baseball, or what have you in the "post-season".

The mans actions were not even close to warranting a arrest. As far as this edit junk. I don't see it, when the camera man(who was one row in front of the JETS fan, and probably hearing the MOST of his chanting, and was obviously NOT there with the Jets fan, says adamantly over and over, he did NOTHING wrong. I have to believe him. He most likely WISHES he didn't turn his camera off, but sadly, most small handhelds cannot record for a full 2 and 1/2 hours. He also had a chargers fan/friend right next to him I assume the camera was being operated by a charger fan. Just an American who knows when he sees someones rights getting trampled on, imo.

I'm Glad I live in New york, and this would never have happened at a New York stadium. Well cause opposing fans know better than to do what this Jets fan did, haha, and 2, once police are involved, Fans of both teams all the sudden become one team, and the police is the other, that guy woulda never been put on the ground and cuffed.

I feel bad for you all in and around L.A.

Enjoy your police state. The situation is your own fault.., for allowing it.

Learn your rights, and use them before you lose them.

Cops meh... I know there are some good ones but they never speak out against the bad ones so I have no love for the lot of them. The guy may have been obnoxious and maybe did deserve to be removed. We don't get to see the whole thing so who knows but it doesn't matter. One more video of police arresting somebody is just that. I just hope when the uniform comes off they are decent people because they don't much of a chance to show it in their line of work.

Cheers

Did anyone actually see this guy get put in a squad car and taken to jail or did they just see the cops take him from the stands?

We are assuming that he was arrested and not simply escorted out of the arena(which is more probable). Just because a person is put into handcuffs does not mean they have been arrested.

He was being annoying for the sake of being annoying. Only an A hole would go to a game, sit in a section that is the section of the opposite team and do something like this.

Also a cop does not eject a fan anytime they feel the need, any number of people can have a fan ejected. Refs, Coaches, Owners and everyone in between can call for a fan to be ejected. So without further knowledge of what happened you could be only shooting the messenger i.e. the cops.

I highly suggest emailing Jerry Sanders ([email protected]) who is the Mayor of San Diego and voicing your opinion on the unlawful tactics of these "police officers".

Also, I believe the reason the cops came was because a old lady in a wheel chair told him to come here, and when he did she slapped him. He calmly walked back up to his seat and started his cheer again.

Whoever that lady is that slapped him should be arrested for assault.
Whoever the cops are should be reprimanded for abuse of power.
Whoever the jets fan is should get free season tickets.

As I sat here and watched that 3+ minute clip of the guy getting arrested and the crowd yelling at the cops...I thought to myself...this is a dangerous situation for these cops...leaving themselves exposed to the rest of the crowd...this incident could have gone really bad really quickly if a "mob mentality" had taken hold.

Bravo to the fans who sided with the Jest fan...but not for siding with him...bravo for not making this a major incident by assaulting the cops...or worse, grabbing their exposed, unprotected guns.

I don't get the point. The video does not show what happened prior to the arrest. Guilty people always say "I didn't do anything". He is clearly resisting and the Officers are not using any more force than appears necessary. The Officers are calm and the people around them appear to be OK with what is going on.

So, why did you post it?

uh, that clip starts with the guy cheering for the jets and then cuts away without showing any of the lead up to the arrest and on top of that, the dude is clearly resisting arrest!

what did you think would happen even on the last point and why would you think that an incomplete video would support any story in favour of the guy.

You add your own comment about a wheelchair bound woman, yet fail to tape it? why? Why is the key part of the tape removed? Is it because it would reveal what a sham the story that you are trying to push is?

Give it a shake will ya?

One overzealous fan can cause mayhem at an emotional event. Look at the stampedes in Europe that result in deaths. I'd rather they be too careful than see people hurt over a game.

resisting arrest IS a crime...but one can not resist until the police are attempting to arrest. So if his only crime was resisting, then why was he being "detained" in the first place?

True, we don't know the whole story; however, the fans around him repeatedly told the officers that the guy had done nothing wrong. I would resist too...if I had no idea why I was being accosted. AND I would hardly call that resisting. he didn't run, he didn't get aggressive, he didn't get violent...he simply made it difficult for these cops to complete their task of harassing him.

True, but he was a paying customer...a friendly 1st warning would have been the appropriate first step IMO.

Yeah, I noticed the two men in suits. They seemed very out of place, and they were directly in front of the camera. I'm pretty sure I did see them smirking..

One of my first thoughts was, man.. is this whole thing a PR setup to see what people can get away with, or to prove a point? Them being in the video allows them to say, "Hey, see what we did? Yeah, we have that much power."

Who knows.

We've all seen videos which seemed completely setup to provoke and harass the population. Like the video of the woman being strip searched at a police station, with about five cops in the room stripping her, male and female. What was the point of that? Why show it on the news, why would the cops video tape it?

Yes we don't know the whole story, so I wish people would stop making "FACTS" lists.

All in all, hopefully they just released the guy and let him go home, or finish watching the game from the nosebleed section.

We don't know.

And as stated, thankfully no one was hurt. I'm just a little appaulled at how "sheepish" the majority of people act when 4-5 LEO's show up. The only one with any sense was the guy with a camera.

We should all start carrying cameras. It empowers you. And it can save you from being abused by the police. But again most small hand helds or cell phones, cannot record for hours on end. So quit crying edit. These devices have limits. He recorded what he thought was pertinent.

Anyhow, did I mention how happy I am to see "Cry me a Phillip Rivers" out of the play-offs? haha!

Go ahead Chris Berman, I'll let you use that one.

I am all for cheering on your team, and have been to MANY NFL games where such activities take place, BUT you also have to know that people are there to watch the game, and enjoy themselves...NOT listen to some drunk yahoo scream and chant ALL damn day in your ear. At some point the person who is getting on EVERYONES nerves needs to realize that in a public venue YOUR MOUTH isn't why we pay $50 to $150 bucks to go to these games.

It's called class, and this turd didn't have to much, but what he DID have to much of was alcohol, which as most know, ISN'T handled responsibly by many people.

Bottom line:
Should he be arrested? NO
Should he have been removed? YES or atleast told to cheer/scream when appropriate, not be obnoxious!!!

As for the heavyset cop, do you really get your kicks out of making fun of his weight? I am sure your a lean mean ripped machine, but when will people seriously grow up. Or let me guess, is it just because he is a cop and since you don't like cops it's ok to make fun of him ANYWAY possible!

Dude this is playoff football....... THE PLAYOFFS people take this and their team's spirit very serious. People don't pay 500 bucks a ticket to sit back and be little nancy's at a game, they want to be heard. Maybe they are a little more laid back in cali or something but hell, there are fans/jerks like this X1,000 at games in new york and we love it. Whether cheering the home team or booing its all good, we deal with it... After all it is just a game.

And yeah that fat cop needs to go on a diet. If you are to be a officer of the law you should at least be physically fit IMO.

When he bought that ticket and entered the stadium there are rules for everyone to read.

That was his friendly first reminder.

If what they did was the right thing to do and justified, then we should see hundreds of fans being dragged out of football stadiums every weekend. There's plenty of guys that are 10 times worse and more beligerant than this guy was. Doesn't make sense. They made an example of this guy for no good reason. Probably because he was an opposing fan who was vocal.

Again, no way the Charger fans keep repeating to the cops that this guy "didn't do anything", if in fact he deserved to be arrested. Unreal.

Prove he was arrested.

Prove the cops acted on their own in having this fan removed.

Show where hundreds of fans sit in the opposing teams section and chant their teams name while flapping their arms during a heated playoff game.

It is a privelage, not a right to sit in a stadium and watch a football game. If one cannot conduct themselves according to the rules then that person will lose that privelage.

Want to act a fool? Watch it at home.

referred to the fan as a player, so I fixed it.

LoL...well for proof, why don't you tell me who your favorite team is, and I'll find you a video of opposing fans screaming and chanting against them, because unless your 100% disjointed from sports, it happens at literally every single game.

And no, the forum to scream, yell and chant IS at a football game. What do you think would happen, if you lived in a neighborhood and had even 5 or 6 people over to watch the game, scream, yell and chant? I'm PRETTY sure you'd have the cops called by your neighbors....
