Vitchilo was WRONG!!!
And man am i pleased too

This will only grow because the problems are so deep. That the activism has expanded beyond Tahrir square is the best possible news ever. That the working class have joined in, as well as the Suez workers, well that's just grand.

Here's a local titbit to add to the mix, the World Festival of Youth and Students which was hosted and paid for by our country, ostensibly led by the National Youth Development Agency, although in practice was an exercise by the ANC youth league. It's been highly controversial because of it's R100 million cost, mostly taken from our lottery fund. But here's the curious part:

Delegates from Egypt and Tunisia who had attended had led “from the front” in anti-government protests in their own countries, while the delegation from Southern Sudan had “led a spirited campaign” in the recent referendum that saw a majority of citizens vote to secede from the north and become a separate country.
“The world we live in now is different than 2010” because of the youth festival, Lungisa claimed. “It is a new world. The outlook has changed.”
He could not, however, answer repeated questions as to how many delegates from each of these countries had attended the festival, saying this was contained in paperwork that his colleague, Ngobeni, said would be difficult to process immediately.
However, Lungisa said the 7 000 delegates from 126 countries included 242 from Cuba, 1 500 from Zimbabwe, 600 from Namibia, 400 from India, and 150 from Morocco. About half of the expected 30 000 delegates attended the festival. -1.1023415

Now we here are used to hearing these people spout all sorts of rubbish, so it's hard to take them seriously, however, the events that have unfolded since then demands a second look. Local reports suggested that the event was a massive waste of time of space, and highly disorganised, i'll try find more info on what was discussed at the event.

I'm all for the egyptians getting their country back but the issue it seems is TIME..
The longer it takes, the more the people are suffering and will turn against the protesters..
The Government IMO is well aware of this and is helping it along by creating scarcity of essentials like food and fuel..
IMO the protesters need to move on the Government quickly..

U.S. to Use All Options to Stop Nuclear Iran, Israel in Favor of Strikes to Weaken Hizbullah, Hamas

Pentagon and U.S. government officials have uncovered an understanding between Washington and Tel Aviv that commits Israel not to undertake any unilateral military action against Iran in return for a U.S. pledge to abandon the policy of accepting a nuclear Iran and deal with Tehran as a nuclear military power, pan-Arab Al-Hayat newspaper said in a report published Tuesday.

In the corridors of Washington and other European capitals and Israel, war scenarios are being discussed "as if war is inevitable," Qahwaji noted, "despite opposition by quite a few military officials and politicians in the U.S. and the West due to the uncertainties of war, which could be catastrophic for the region and U.S. interests."

Despite disagreement on several points in the scenarios of war, the report goes on to say, many experts and officials still agree on other points, including the idea of provoking war by attempting to inspect a ship in the Gulf waters or provoke Hizbullah into a gunbattle in Lebanon.

The main point of disagreement between U.S. and Israeli officials and experts in the scenarios of war relates to how to deal with Iran's allies -- namely Syria, Hizbullah and Hamas.

While Israeli leaders are in favor of preemptive strikes to weaken Hizbullah and Hamas and perhaps Syria before attacking Iran, U.S. officials and experts prefer crushing the top of the pyramid – Iran -- and deal a heavy military blow to the Persian Gulf nation in the hope of shaking its ability to move and to sow fear among its allies who will recognize the fact that war is real and that the future of their presence is at stake if they choose to support Tehran.

Many U.S. officials believe that the current policy of openness toward Syria will bear fruit through weakening the strategic alliance with Iran. Israel, however, considers such a policy is doomed to fail and continues to prepare for a possible future confrontation in the Golan Heights, the report said..

The rapid pace for arms program reflects fear in Arab Gulf states that an imminent war is on the doors, it concluded.

Not good at all... and as many of us thought, Israel wants to take out Hamas, Hezbollah and perhaps Syria before going against Iran... the US does not since it's not under threat from them if war breaks out with Iran.

Analysts Worry Over Egypt's WMD Past in Uncertain Future

Intelligence documents and U.S. officials indicate that Washington's longtime ally has clandestinely conducted research on nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction for decades.

"If we found another country doing what they've done, we would have been all over them," an unidentified ex-U.S. intelligence officer said.

Last year, the International Atomic Energy Agency announced it had launched a probe into the origins of highly enriched uranium particles that turned up at an Egyptian atomic research center in 2007 and 2008. The U.N. nuclear watchdog also chastised Cairo in 2005 for not reporting a number of atomic experiments over the years. The Arab state has conducted both plutonium processing and uranium enrichment endeavors, NBC reported. The plutonium work seems to have been abandoned two decades ago.

Well ain't that nice! All that was put under the rug because of Egypt being a US puppet.

After 5000 years of recorded civilisation history, finally Egypt has decided enough is enough and will lead the way as it once had when civilisation began, before the Macedonian Alexander, only an adventurous oaf with power hell bent on conquering the uneducated world, turned civilisation of Egypt tradition and culture upside down with confusing greek dictates and philosophies.

May the Egyptians succeed, reclaim their glory and lead the cradle of civilisation that the Middle East had been once in our known civilisation, to better days than man made repressive laws and twisted religions by senile old men that had enslaved the spirit of Egypt for centuries..

A new and educated Egypt after 5000 years of civilisation mistakes and progress..Not one of the pharonic times or need for monarchist mollycoodling, but an Egypt of 'for the people, by the people'.

So now they are reporting that Mubarak will step down and give power to Suleiman... tonight...

NBC: Mubarak to step down tonight, veep to take over

Update at 10:37 a.m. ET: NBC says Mubarak will make a statement this evening and step down. A statement by the armed forces on Egyptian state TV says the military convened the supreme council of the armed forces "to safeguard people and protect their interest." Al-Jazeera TV notes that Mubarak was not shown attending that meeting.

Update at 10:37 a.m. ET:NBC's Richard Engel says two independent sources have confirmed that Mubarak will step down. In addition, the armed forces supreme council has convened to begin the orderly transition of power, NBC says.

But thing is... Suleiman is AS BAD AS MUBARAK!

But it seems there's more credible sources saying that it will be THE ARMY taking over... NOT SULEIMAN...

The army should arrest all high rank NDP party members for trials against the people of Egypt....

The army should have done this WAY BEFORE... like a week ago +...

Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid, reporting from Cairo, confirmed the new demands of those in Tahrir Square include the entire administration to resign – not just President Mubarak. They want a one-year transitional period before full parliamentary elections - during which a three-person presidential council should run the country while a panel of experts write a new, permanent constitution – taking advice from opposition groups and senior, high-profile Egyptians, including the Muslim Brotherhood.

Anyway, THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!

Update 2 : Mubarak has not left Egypt... unless he used a military base to get out of the country.

#Tahrir wants to march on the presidential palace along with the army #Jan25

Al Jazeera: Protesters are demanding the army gets involved & to head to the Presidential Palace

SultanAlQassemi : I don't expect less than 10 million protesters on the streets of Egypt tomorrow.

Al Jazeera: Protesters listened for 12.5 minutes of this 17 minute speech before exploding in anti-Mubarak chants

The level of anger in #Tahrir is off the charts, the crowd won't wait till tomorrow. This is going to produce a very disturbing scene #Egypt

AJE: Angry, emotional protestors take to the streets of Alexandria towards the military base #Jan25

Egypt state tv, Egypt VP (omar sulaiman) to hold speech soon/AJA

Thamer Saeed Salman : This couldn't have happened with out the army's consent, which means that the army picked a side, this situation could explode

Reports of violence in Cairo and Alexandria

Rumors of Mubarak resigning probably came from the regime

This is quite sick...

Also, total silence from the US.

Maybe this was a ploy so violence breaks out so Mubarak and the army can start shooting openly on protesters.

And reports saying that protesters are trying to swarm the STATE TV... which is guarded by tanks.

Suleiman speaking right now. Saying that dialogue is open, roadmap to accepting demands... reform... further dialogue... basically utter BS. Pledges to follow reforms and transition to elections... safeguard the revolution of the youth... realize the demand of the people... STOP PROTESTS, STOP SIT-IN, STRIKES... stop listening to foreign press... which creates sedition... army supported the revolution... protected the people... let's march forward...

It's all lies and rhetoric. The scumbag war criminals like him still run the show.

Mubarak gave some of his powers to Suleiman... but as I said many times, Suleiman is as worse if not worse than Mubarak since he runs the secret police and the torture program.

Of course the US and Israel governments supports Suleiman, it's their guy.

Jesus.. What are we witnessing here?

I've got my eyes focused tight on the suez canal.. This could get out of hand big time. I believe it is quite likely global oil supply could be disrupted in the coming days, we could see oil hit 200 dollars a barrel.

If those workers stay on strike, I'd imagine they will now that Mubarak isn't going anywhere.

I also fear a major terror strike somewhere amongst all this carnage

"This is not what the [US] administration was told President Mubarak was going to do," reports CNN political correspondent John King
