Kind of makes me wonder if they are encouraging civil unrest.

Yup. Either intentional or not this will be the result.

Air drops wont work unless there are boots on the ground at drop points. As it is simply dropping supplies means the stronger, more violent and better armed individuals will take over the supplies thereby taking over control.

Air drops are one of the major reasons warlords have so much power in the more dilapidated areas of Africa.

Hi Donny

From what I have seen on Sky News they are using aircraft and not just helicopters to make drops, I am not an American so don't know what the usual procedure is or the names of the planes but they looked QUITE big to me and they were pushing them out of the back of the plane with the packages attached to parachutes. Hope this helps ease your mind a bit??

Hi wiser
Thanks for the interest and especially in my psyche.
I find you folks in the UK good "news" partners.
I just wish I could have said "good news partners" instead.
I think you contribute more in our direction than we do in yours.
Sorta unfair.
The most often used aircraft are C130's. They are cargo and troop carrying work horses.
They take off and land on short runways. They can fly fairly slow making drops more successful.
They have a big old ramp door that lowers to the ground for loading and opens in flight to accommodate huge amounts of cargo to be ejected.
