I'm looking for the meaning of a certain rose pin.
It's a small, gold round pin, with a rose in the middle which is folded from fabric.

I think Jacques Chirac (former president of France) used to wear it as well.

Can anyone tell me -with certainty- what this rose pin means?
sorry, I couldn't find a clear picture of it...

thanks

Have you looked into whether it may be some sort of war memorial pin, like for WWII victims or something? I'd start my research in that sort of area, if I were looking for such a pin. I'm not saying that's what it is, or that it isn't a secret society pin, but my instinct would be to start looking in that direction.

I think it got something to do with him being French president, since Sarkozy also got very similar one.

I think you're right about it being a presidential thing; a quick google search on some other former French presidents brought up images of them wearing them too.

thanks for the replies

I never thought of this as a "presidential pin"
because I knew a person who was always wearing such a pin... old guy, rich, lions club and sortlike memberships, etc....
but I'm pretty sure he never was a french president :p

gonna look into it some further

According to these sites its a Légion d’Honneur (French Legion of Honor) pin. An honor apparently given to the President of France automatically and to others for "somehow contributing to the glory of France".

Thanks for the links

I found a list on wiki with all names of the members of the Legion d'Honneur. The person I knew is, as expected, not on that list.
His pin is very similar though, only it is round and set in a gold ring. Ir must have another meaning...
