JFK terminal being evacuated after security breach

www.washingtonpost.com

NEW YORK -- Officials are evacuating a terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City because of a security breach.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Steve Coleman says travelers at Kennedy's Terminal 8 are being asked to leave and will be re-screened. Coleman didn't describe the breach.

A man was charged last week with breaching security at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Jan. 3. Flights were grounded for hours and passengers were re-screened while air safety officials searched for him.

Another terrorism scare? Just seen this on the BBC news ticker that officials are evacuating a terminal at John F. Kennedy airport in New York because of a security breach, and found this source after a quick google related to Associated Press.

This is breaking from 10 minutes ago, and so far this is all the information we have.

A terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport was evacuated Saturday after a security breach, officials said.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Steve Coleman said travelers at Kennedy's Terminal 8 were asked to leave so they could be re-screened. He didn't describe the breach.

Terminal 8 handles both domestic and international flights for American Airlines.A spokesman for the airline, Charley Wilson, said the breach happened at around 3 p.m. Some flights were being delayed, and two American planes that had landed were waiting on the tarmac for permission to proceed to their gates.

Wilson wasn't sure how long it would take to fully reopen the terminal.

The incident is the third evacuation in five months at airports that serve New York City.

A man was charged last week with breaching security at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Jan. 3. Flights were grounded for hours and passengers were re-screened while air safety officials searched for him.

In August, a terminal at LaGuardia airport was evacuated after police tackled a disturbed man who was carrying a device that looked like a bomb but turned out to be harmless.

Looks like the situation's under control, or another false scare.

The "terrorists" have accomplished their goal... They have terrorized enough to cause fear/ disrupt anything they want without having to do anything anymore...

I guess we know who is in the lead of this endless "war" where nobody ever wins...
