Even though I'm a skeptic I still enjoy TV shows on the paranormal. Here's my most favourite and least favourite.

BEST: Destination Truth

Being mostly about adventure and fun, the show is entertaining even when they don't find anything special. Josh Gates pulls off impressive stunts and always cracks me up with his comedy talent. Interestingly, while DT doesn't take itself too seriously, the lack of pathos adds to the show's credibility.

WORST: Paranormal State

This show already makes me wringe in the opening titles. "Sometimes we're warriors" - yeah, sure.

best -destination truth
i love this show, i love the episode when they go to chenobol. that strange forest when one of there crew flys off infront of the camera and the doll island

second best (i know its meant to be one of each)- strange but true
its an old programme from england but its a classic i watch it on youtube now and still great

worst - most haunted
this programme is so faked and has set paranormal investigration back years, its all sensationalism.
and its always the same three poeple who experience things, or when ever anything happens they never catch it on screen so to me it stinks of fake

just thought of another good one sightings not just paranormal but its interesting and a classic

Actually, it wasn't meant to be so formal, so that's fine

I have to agree with the OP here, Destination truth is a good show that cuts to the point, has a scientific basis and doesn't blow things out of proportion.

Ghost hunters, TAPS or whatever they call themselves would have to be the worst I've seen.. Borrrrrrringggggg.

I won't even bother with paranormal state.

Most haunted is crap, I'll only watch it for the parapsychologist (Dr Cieran O'Keefe?) laughing at some of the crap "psychics" come up with.

I agree with you. For fictional tv paranormal shows, Supernatural is my favorite!!

To the OP, Destination Truth is by far the best. I have 2 horrible ones though, on top is Paranormal State, that show just oozes cheese. I also am not a fan of Most Haunted. Everytime I have watched that show, I'm not sure who it is, but when something goes "bang" in the dark, there's always some woman screaming her head off. I don't get it....if she's there to ghost hunt why on earth does she always scream at the slightest noise?? It's annoying, especially when they play the moment back over and over and you can't really hear anything cause she's screaming. Buck up lady!!!

i know what you mean about the screaming, also the swar alot which isnt needed you cant here anything for the beeping covering the swearing.
also have you ever watched a live most haunted they are rubbish they are either going to an advert or talking in the studio asking oyu to ring up and see what you think at something stupid like a pound an hour.
just as you see them ghost hunting they are back to the studio or going to an add its rubbish

also whens the next supernatural on again i want to see what happens

I like Ghost Adventures

worst is either Psychic Kids (I HATE Chip Coffey) or the canceled Extreme Paranormal.

old school= In Search Of with Nimoy. it wasnt strictly paranormal but it got me obsessed with Oak Island as a kid in the early 80's!

cant rewmeber what it was called but the programme consted of telling you something like 3 stories and you would have to guess which ones were real and which one was fake it had the guy out of star trek next generation
i liked that one

cant for the life of me think what it was

just thought of my favorite episode of supernatural the one with the giant depressed teddy bear that one had me creased

That episode was hilarious! For those not familiar with the show, a girl could bring to life things she read in story books, and combined with real life things, wow, what fun! lol The giant teddy bear became very depressed with its existance. It drank alcohol all day, looked at porn, finally decided to end it all and blow it's brains out. Blam!! The bear didn't die because it didn't have a brain. Just fluffy stuffing.

:lol

I watched a couple of the Paranormal State shows. It didn't seem worth it to keep on following it. However, there was one episode where people were suffering from hallucinations and believed they were haunted. It ended up being hallucinations caused by leaky ductwork from the furnace. The residents were being poisoned with carbon monoxide.

Ealier X Files is at the top of my list. But in the later seasons, with Dogget, they became a bit of a bore. There were possibilities to be explored with Agent Reyes and her ability to see events when touching objects and bodies at crime scenes, but the producers didn't follow up on this ability of hers.

Is this thread about fact shows, fiction shows or factual fiction shows?

I prefer the "real" shows (well, if you could call them that)
the worst I have seen recently was one called 'extreme paranormal'. it was actually kinda funny, they picked on the chubby guy and the answer for everything from these overly macho dudes was 'what, you heard a noise, must be a ghost.'

I just get drug into these shows all the time. Recently watched Jesse Ventura's conspiracy show...not so bad, but still somewhat annoying. I also have DVR'd the new history channel show 'Solving History' (I haven't watched it yet.) The first episode was on the Ark of the Covenent.

I find these shows usually have poor interviews, poorer research and annoying hosts and/or cast.
the Ghosthunters guys are usually like "that's it, that proves it, we got the evidence" when I never see anything such. Only some noise or camera glitch that is supposed to be irrefutable proof. Or Monsterquest, where you go out of the show never knowing anymore than when you went into the show. No proof. Nothing.
