Where are they getting this money? With the current national debt... how can we afford to keep sending aid to these countries?

Would be interesting to see what would happen if a 7.0+ quake hit Israel. No doubt they would find a way to link mother nature to Hamas, Hezbollah or Iran.

I wonder how much help our country would get if we had a hurricane hit, lets say.. the southern US. I Bet we would be all over that with all of our resources and money. It would probably be cleaned up in no time.

Wait! It did happen, and its still not cleaned up. WTF? Can we not use some of that money to repair our own backyard?

One day in Haiti can end the lives of more innocent Haitians than Israel's "War on Terror" has over the course of 50 years, and yet Israel is still entitled to 1000s of times more financial aid than Haiti.

You know, if we actually removed aid from countries that don't need it and instead applied that aid and smart infrastructure planning to the countries in our backyard, we could have turned the entire North American continent into a first world utopia by now.

But no, Israel needs our money and our war machines to protect them from the evil Palestinians, whom they have bravely caged into a small ghetto in Israel's own backyard.

And people wonder why terrorists exist.

100 million to Haiti = Aid
30 Billion to Israel = Buy off

Also, remember, the US will be transporting the majority of the aid into Haiti. Wanna guess how much it is to fuel the fleet that will be sailing there with hospital ships and supplies? The C130s and C17s flying in aid? The Marines on the ground that will probably be transporting the aid to where it needs to be?

Yeah, didn't think that anyone thought of that before they started to run their suck.

Lets throw money we dont have at it, its bad enough that our grand kids will have to pay through yesterday, but it just keeps gettin better all the time.

Why cant we send aid the old way, on an individual basis from the phone???

I had forgotten about that.

While everyone is having a cow that the US is "only" sending 100M, they seem to forget how much will be raised by private donations. How many churches, schools, etc, will be collecting money and items that will be sent to Haiti.

And how much money is the Chinese sending? I know they are sending rescue personnel, but how much money are the pledging?? And how about Russia?? Both countries are superpowers, but I don't see anyone here getting their underwear in a knot over how much or how little they are sending.....

Unless I misunderstood the point of the thread, this is about the huge disparity in the aid being given to Haiti. Israel doesn't need 30 billion dollars and yet they are getting a blank check for billions and our most powerful war machines. Haiti desperately needs aid and infrastructure to stabilize the country, reduce the extreme systemic poverty, help the injured, and rebuild from the destruction, yet they are only receiving a fraction of the amount of Israel.

I wonder what proctologist is going to dig in Obamas fanny for all that money...
