Bill Gates is byfar not the richest person. There are mant people wanting to keep their wealth secret. The founder of Ikea has alot more $$ than Bill. This is an interesting subject, I want to know more. There has to be a government tie besides the government accepting bribes from billionare's companies to keep from being split up fro being a monopoly. Can anyone think why the fed.s would be also involved?

25 Roman Abramovich 37 10.6 Russia Russia , Anadyr

The founder and "owner" of Ikea is number 13 on this lists. This lists is from the year 2004, check it out yourself: www.forbes.com...

So, I don't know where this rumor came from that the founder and owner of Ikea is wealthier than Bill Gates. I have a prediction though: I think that the world's greatest investor, Warren Buffet, will overtake Bill Gates next year.

BTW, their wealth comes after their age, which is the first number, and it is in billions. So, Bill Gates wealth is estimated to be at 46.6 billion dollars. Ingvar Kamprad, founder and "owner" of Ikea, has an estimated 18.5 billion dollars - not even close to Bill Gates.

Yeah, maybe a little. But, I highly doubt that Ikea has made Ingvar Kamprad wealthier than Bill Gates. Also, Forbes studies their holdings very in depth, so I'd assume their educated estimations are fairly accurate. I mean, thats all Forbes is really about, right? Money? So, who better to do the research, and get actual details? lol.

Your very wrong there.

The founder of Ikea, indeed, got listed as the richest person in the world this year, BUT, in the callculation for his personal wealth, they included the combined value of IKEA, wich is not owned by him.

If Bill Gates' fortune was callculated including all of Microsoft and all of the daughter company's and all their assets and patents, then you'd have one nasty figure.

There are several families on this planet that are far more wealthy then the entire top 500 richest people listed combined. But they indeed keep their wealth hidden, not to mention themselves too.

As EmbryonicEssence shows, after some uproar by alot of people, including the founder of Ikea, that the statement of him being the wealthiest, was wrong, they changed the listing to reflect his personal wealth correctly, without including the value of IKEA.
