In a poor country such as Hati, buildings are rarely built with the structural reinforcement richer countries do. It adds to the cost, even though in
the long run it will save costs, and perhaps lives. This may very well be the second most deadly disaster in recorded history, after the 2004 Tsunami.
What a nightmare. We (the US) are sending a great deal of aid and several US Navy ships. Other countries are helping as well.
But for most of my life I have had the question; If the US suffered a massive disaster that overwelmed our ability to cope with, how many nations of
the world would help us?
