I believe the backlash from this will be very bad for the areas involved. However, if this is needed for countries to maintain their identity, I'm all for it. I know some people will say it's racist, and creates hate, fear and mistrust, but at what point is enough, enough?

Its a democracy, if the people vote to ban mosques and minarets so be it, muslims aint some super people, same rules apply.

Same rule goes for most moslim countries- Just try to get a building permit to built a church in most of them....good luck !
