Private Health Care Negociations Justified... what you say!?

I typically do not talk politics in a very public place. My beliefs are too difficult to explain to your random person in the grocery store. Most of the time, when it comes up, I just listen.

That didn't happen today.

As many know, the healthcare bill talks are not being televised.

This came up while I was in line today at the store. Two people were talking about it.

They talked about the health care bill and how it is going to solve all the issues and how hopefully it will lead to a universal system. I think they meant single payer, but these weren't the brightest of people. I just stood there, thinking. They got to the negotiations being held in private, and one of them said that they did not like it because Obama had promised the opposite.

Then, the other person had the audacity to say that he preferred it that way, if that's what it takes to get it passed. The other person kind of shrugged and nodded. Then the man went on to say that they shouldn't televise any negotiations because it leads to public outcry, and that people are just too dumb to really know better. He was, of course, referring to Tea Partyers and other protesters.

What you say!?

I had to say something. If only to make my mind stop making the nails-on-a-chalkboard sound.

I told him that it was the politicians that didn't know better and that they were the ones living in a fantasy. When the polls look up, it is an exuberant mandate from the masses. When the polls look down, the masses are a bunch of dumb, racist, hilljacks. Our government has forgotten its purpose. It isn't here to control us, but to let us control ourselves. (I didn't go too far)

Some people have forgotten what freedom is, others don't care. They are like free range chickens that are unaware of the ever tightening grasp of control. One day, our head will be cut off and we will be fed to the very system we praise.

I hate the store.

DISCLAIMER: I know there are intelligent liberals and conservatives alike. I am not trying to paint a picture of an entire ideological group, just these individuals that rather offended my inner Murray Rothbard.

It's a wonderful opportunity to practice keeping one's mouth shut.
Think of what might come out...

I never realized how complicated and intertwined the entire healthcare system
is until this health reform legislation started taking shape last year. No matter
what Congress passes, there will be big winners and big losers. It will take
years to determine if this was a good or bad reform for the American people.

I have been hearing those sounds on the chalkboard for way too long.

I usually only say one thing out in public, not like here on ATS, I can be QUITE loud in stating my views here.

I only state that I appreciate everyone giving my rights away along with their's and that people believing government is there to provide for us do not know # about history.

I usually do not make many friends with people that think government is a good and honest entity.

One thing is looking up though, there seems to be fewer that trust government out there lately.

The funny thing is, I would bet right now in the US, there are dozens if not hundreds of closed door meetings that are discussing the futures or fates of the elite in congress.

I would also suspect that the fate of ones decision could determine the fate of the others.

Call it Karma, or law of conservation, either way it can be a b!tch.

It is like people assume our government is not made up of people, but of some kind of magical, benevolent being that knows what is best for us.

The people in government have no less inclination to violence and oppression than those of us not in government. People need to get this through their brains.

One thing is looking up though, there seems to be fewer that trust government out there lately.

In an age of great discord, we are reminded of what it is like to be free. We only know a little freedom, here and there, but it sparks our minds to crave more.

i think all the congressmen and senators need to be put on trial for treason and for not following the constitution. the constitution does not allow the government to force us to buy insurance. its also does not allow socialism. why arent people more angry and saddened by this? do they really think america will be better as a socialist nation? im pretty sure it hasnt worked well for the nations that have tried...
